History: Chris’s story starts in Canada’s Capitol, Ottawa. His life was fairly average, his relationship with his parents wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great, truth be told, he was a accident, and though they loved him like any mother and father would, they were young, and not really ready for kids. He did ok in school, neither good, nor bad. He was pretty much a average young lad. There was really only one person he truly connected with, and that was his neighbor, Jake. They would play all day on the weekends, hang out as long as they could after school and all that childhood jazz. Jack would always tell great stories of his father, who owned a small air shipping company, somewhere near the Florida Keys. He had been there once, but that was only because he kept on pestering his mother. Sadly they were divorced, and the mother and father were not on good terms.
Sadly in grade 11 tragedy struck, and Jack’s mother was killed by a heart attack. Jack was grief stricken, and was sent to live with his father.
Chris was left alone, his life long best friend torn away from him.
It was in grade nine that he picked up his passion for photography. He started off with a simple point and shoot camera, photos here and there. Eventually he was carrying that camera with him everywhere, His parents noticed, got him a Second hand DSLR, and he started to take classes and really began to get involved with it. His friends would ask him to take there portraits, and he actually managed to sell some of his photos in the Ottawa downtown market. Though he had friends, he never was really able to connect with them like he could with Jake. He started to become socially awkward, and begun to feel small and insignificant in the city, like nothing he did mattered. All throughout high school he worked an after school job and saved up his money, and after high school he managed to send himself to Collage with only some debt. He took a two year Journalism course, which he excelled in.
Even though they were apart, Jake and Chris kept in contact with each other, through letters, text’s email, Skype, things like that. About a month before the end of his second year, Chris turned on his computer to have a video call with Jake, only to see in shock that Jack was in tears. His father’s airplane was caught in a freak storm and he sadly went down in to the ocean. He said he felt alone and sad, having had a great relationship with his father. He asked if Chris had any plans for after school, because he now had the house to himself and could really use the comfort of an old friend. In fact Chris had not thought that far ahead, and had not even found himself a place to live after collage, so he arranged to fly down and live with Jake In his father’s beach house just after he finished school. He had always longed to leave the city see the world.
At this point Chris has been living on the Island for about a month, and has adapted well to the Island. There is plenty for him to explore and photograph, and he is starting to feel better about himself. His arrival has also been good for helping Jake keep his mind off most things.
