Eva roused some time in the night, feeling absolutely atrocious. She shifted and whimpered at the soreness her body felt. That's when she remembered. The moment when her water broke at the masquerade. She could only imagine the scene they had caused when Rafe carried her to find Dr. Alder. The hours of labor her body had gone through bringing two pups into the world. Rafe holding her hands and murmuring encouragement to her in her ear when she started to grow tired with Aine's delivery. She didn't know that she could have gotten through this without him.
She looked around for the pups and smiled softly when she found them snuggled up against each other in a crib near the bed. That long night in labor had been worth the two beautiful bundles that laid next to each other. The boy favored his father. She could only imagine that when his eyes started changing they would be that gorgeous green that Rafe had. It was a relief to her to know that her pups were his. That Jonathan Pocket had never filled her womb with a child. That was a thought that had been heavy on her heart since she discovered she was pregnant. Even when Rafe claimed he would love them as his own either way.
She laid back, unable to move without pain. As much as she wanted to hold one, or both even, it hurt to move. She closed her eyes softly, thinking it best she rest for the moment. The sun was setting, which meant she slept most of the day away after intensive labor all night. It was no easy feat to birth a pup, much less two naturally. It was doubly painful to. Eva hadn't had a chance to clean up either, thought at this moment a nice hot bubble bath sounded wonderful. Or even just a shower. She wanted to feel clean.
Eva felt an absolute mess right now. There hadn't been much chance for her to clean up after the birthing. She had been so tired by then. It took just about the entire night to have the pups. By the end, Eva had been so tired. She couldn't even remember if she got a chance to hold and touch the babies. She knew she didn't get to hold Calum for sure. The two of them never gave her a chance to rest before she had to deliver Aine. It was almost as if Aine was pushing her brother out.
Her eyes fluttered open when she thought she heard someone come into the room and her head laid back as she looked to the sleeping pups. Smiling warmly. She looked to the source when she thought she heard someone come in. "Rafe?" She asked weakly as she slowly sat up, trying to be careful. "Is that you?"
