Elina stared at the large doors that would lead into the masquerade ball. She could hear the music playing. The ball had already begun. Which meant that her and Henry could not make any sort of quiet appearance like she wished they could. She looked down at her feet when they stopped at the door for the guards to open it. She felt like she was going to be sick, and she knew she would in a bit because she knew that the servants would bombard her with all sorts of hors d'oeuvres and drinks. She was going to have to figure out a way to discreetly dispose of them in a way that did not involve her mouth. It was either that or eat them and be sick most of the night, which would involve sneaking off from Henry. She was certain that would be a far more difficult task than disposing of the snacks.
Elina took a deep breath and lifted her head tot he doors as they began to open, and they were announced to the people of the masquerade. Elina just stared straight ahead, not sure what to do or say as she heard the audible gasps that fled through the room and all eyes turned to them. Elina wanted so badly to turn and flee. But she knew she wasn't alone tonight either. Her and Henry had agreed to be there for each other for the night, and she would not back down from that agreement. She was still angry with him, yes, but she needed someone she could lean on tonight because she knew what foul rumors and gossip she would have to endure for the night.
And Henry. Oh, poor Henry. He had a lot more apologizing to do this night. Not just to her but to everyone else he left behind who cares about him, who he cares about. Yes, tonight would not be an easy night for either of them. Elina glanced to a group of courtiers who were snickering and talking, all eyes on the two of them as they did so. Elina glared at them for a moment and her back straightened and her shoulders went back in a much more suitable posture. She gave the girls a challenging look before she looked up to Henry and gave his arm a gentle squeeze of reassurance as they began their way through the crowd that parted for them.
She wanted to get this night over with already. Maybe they could just make quick rounds and then leave. She was fairly certain Henry would not object. She looked to the Throne at the other end of the room, wondering if Vaan had been expecting them. Once Elina had stripped her future husband and dried him off she had sent the servant who helped her to go give Vaan the news. The Prince was back. Elina was nervous of the reception Henry would receive and she was nervous that another big blow up would happen in this hall again. Elina had not gone near the main hall since Vaan and Henry's fight and she had wished she could avoid it at all cost even now.
