Julian growled to himself as he pushed another piece of shrubbery out of his way. It seemed that everywhere he went on this bloody island there was some kind of greenery that was trying to attack him. Of all the places Rebeckah had to drag him to it needed to be a tropical island where it was not only hot as hell but swimming with so many tropical plants it was giving him a migraine. Anywhere he turned there was some kind of plant in his way or something that was keeping a vice grip on his clothing. The young man was getting fed up being in this kind of environment. Of course it did have its benefits having most of the woman wearing hardly anything because of the warm climate, however there was only so much that Julian could take. He had grown up in the heart of a huge city where the only greenery was the park smack down in the middle. However, around that there really wasn’t anything else there. When he was younger the young hybrid had thought that park itself had a lot of greenery in it. It wasn’t till he had started traveling that his eyes were open. New York might be built up with sky scrapers and air pollution but the whole world did not resemble his back yard.
Normally Julian did not mind nature at all nor did he mind the heat. Having gotten genes from his mother’s side which allowed him to walk in the sun without looking like burnt toast, the young man had taken to enjoying basking in its rays. The reason for his current foul mood could be explained by his reasoning for being on the island in the first place. First off, he had been dragged there by the woman that claimed to be his mother. The only thing that qualified her for that title was her having given birth to him that was really the extent that Rebeckah’s motherly title applied to. She had no maternal instincts what so ever, and in reality, never wanted a second child to begin with. However, due to his father’s manipulative ways, Julian now had to be alive and suffer in the world around him. For now, the hybrid tried to make the best of it. Accompanying her to the island where her precious first born was as well as his perfect life, wasn’t on the top of Julian’s to do list. His entire life Julian had spent listening to Rebeckah comparing him to her beloved Henry and boosting about how much better he was compared to Julian. Over the years, a hated for his half brother had formed within Julian. However, after some convincing and own person musing, the young man decided to go along with whatever chaos Rebeckah was planning to unleash. Not to mention he could attempt to ruin Henry’s life without the lycan knowing what was going on around him. That was his plan and the reason why Julian was currently maneuvering his way around the isle.
Tugging his black dress shirt from the vice grip of yet another plant, Julian glared at the shrub before taking a few steps away from it. He straightened the shirt he was wearing brushing his sleeve of any leftover shrub particles. Composing himself, Julian walked out into the open area, finding himself in what looked like the court yard of the palace. He had been exploring the whole island for a good few days now, interacting with just about anyone hoping to get on people’s good side without anyone realizing what he was doing. The more people he interacted with leaving a positive impression, the better it would be for his image. He had already impressed a crowd of people in the market when he had joined the belly dancer during one of her numbers. Not to mention the various others he had already chatted with, leaving them with a good impression. No one needed to know what his plans here were, nor did they need to know that he was not traveling alone. Rebeckah was staying back for now waiting for an opportune moment to make her grand entrance. The woman loved attention it seemed and she was going to get it no matter what that took. Julian seemed to have inherited that trait from her in a way. He always boosted about himself and tended to stroke his own ego as well as making himself the center of attention at times. Other times, he preferred not to be noticed but that was always something he tried to control.
Rubbing his chin, he walked further into the court yard looking around the place, his eyes traveling to the fountain in the middle of it. He could not wrap his mind around some of the architecture he had run into on the island. It was in his eyes, odd. The blue orbs shot up when out of the corner of his eyes he noticed a figure sitting on one of the benches. He had not seen her when he had first emerged within the court yard, but now that he was further it was hard to miss her. Not only because she seemed to be the only one there but her expression wasn’t one of content either. Figuring he could get his reputation established with yet another individual, Julian put on a charming smile as he approached the woman. “A woman as radiant as yourself shouldn’t be wearing such an expression.” he stated figuring it would be a good way to approach her.

Elina was sitting on a bench near the fountain, just watching the water. She needed to get out of her and Henry's suite, but she didn't really want to go anywhere where people would be. Otherwise she would have gone to the music hall to piddle around on the piano. No. She wanted solitude. Ever since Henry's disappearance, she kept to her suite or the courtyard. She had enough trouble dealing with the rumors and gossip that managed to seep into her suite by way of her servants. She didn't need to hear the rest from people who she knew would just rub it in. There were girls in the court who would just rub the wound raw because of her engagement to Henry. She could only imagine how harsh they would be if they learned she was with pup. With Henry's pup.
That's really why she had kept herself locked away. She didn't want any body to know. The people who needed to know knew. Except Henry. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, staring at the water that gushed out of the fountain. The future princess of the lycans didn't exactly look like what a future princess should look like. Her hair was mused from sleeping. She had a rather sickly pallor and dark circles under her eyes. Dressed in a shabby tee-shirt that was a bit too big for her, one of Henry's shirts, and a pair of short shorts, she looked awful. She felt awful. Always sick and never able to keep anything down. It was pure misery.
She was sitting there, thinking about all she had to do in the next day or two. The masquerade was tomorrow night and there was no word from Henry. She told Vaan she was leaving hif Henry didn't return in time for it. She had already begun to pack her bags. Some of her things had already been shipped to Scotland as a matter of fact. That's when her thoughts were interrupted by a charming tone. Her eyes lifted from the fountain and she looked up to the sources. She tensed a little as his scent came to her. He was neither lycan nor vampire. A hybrid. She had never seen a hybrid. And she knew about them either. She tensed a little, not very comfortable with this stranger. Especially in her current state. "Surly you jest, sir. I have no radiance today." She stated calmly before looking back to the fountain thoughtfully

Chuckling Julian smirked as he looked over at Elina wondering who she was. He could smell that she was a lycan and not a human. He had surprisingly run into a fair number of humans and it seemed that their purpose here was somewhat different than that of what some vampires used humans for. To some he found that humans were only kept around for food, and given that lycan’s didn’t eat people as far as he knew, it would mean there was another reason they were there. So far, the only thing he’d seen had been some as servants. He wasn’t certain that was their only purpose but for now, he would leave it at that. “Surly you know that radiance and beauty is on the inside and not the out M’lady.” he added not really using it as a term of rank but as a polite way to address her seeing as he wasn’t sure who the woman was. He had been sent out to spy on his brother and the royal family, which meant finding out who was who. However, there were still a few names he did not have faces for.
Using his charm, the young man had been able to make his way through the isle gathering information from just about anyone he ran into. It seemed that their so called court system ran on gossip, which gave the young hybrid quite the advantage. Slipping a new here and there could get him a whole hours worth of information. Hell sometimes he merely had to stand somewhere in the market and listen to the different conversations going on around him. So far, Julian already knew quite a bit. However he had yet to put a face to whom among the sea of lycan’s was Henry. He knew too much about the man and found himself disliking him more and more; however, he hadn’t really seen a recent image of him. Rebeckah not being a loving mother meant she hadn’t seen him in years which left him with a few holes to fill in her current plot. The woman was relentless when it came to doing things that came suddenly to her mind. He was still wondering why she had needed to eat just about every damned bird in the forest on their way to the palace.
Shaking that memory from his mind for the time being, Julian focused on the woman he was currently standing next to. He wanted to know who she was and hopefully gain some kind of information from and about her. Who knew what someone might let slip when they weren’t thinking straight. Right now, she didn’t seem to be paying much attention to anything given the state she was in. “I’m curious as to what has brought you to such discontent?” he asked curiously knowing most women were quite content talking about themselves and nothing more. While waiting for a reply, the young hybrid noticed a small twig still attached to the cuff of his shirt from his previous battle with the shrubbery. Frowning for a moment, he tugged the twig out making a somewhat disgusted face as he flicked it away from himself.

She pursed her lips softly. A charmer. No doubt that came from his vampire side. Deep brown doe eyes studied him for a moment at his words before a shoulder softly bobbed in a non-commental shrug. Sure, looks wre just as important on the inside as they were on the outside, but the one man who could see the entirety of Elina on the inside was not here. He was gone, and she wasn't sure if there was any hope in ever seeing him again. She glanced to him once more, noting his expression. She studied him for a moment, wondering if she knew him from somewhere, but she did not recognize him in any sort of way. Although, those deep blue eyes were chilling familiar. She felt as if she were looking into Henry's eyes and that sent a chill up her spine. She looked away from him, hiding the shiver she felt run along her body at looking into those deep blue eyes.
She looked up to him wearily at his question. He was a new face to the court, and she wasn't sure she trusted him. No, scratch that. She knew she didn't trust him. He was a half blood. Someone who was clearly new to Isla de los Lobos. He was not the sort of person she would trust her deepest darkest secrets to much less the top news of the courts, even if he clearly did not know. Deep brown eyes looked him up and down as he flicked away a twig that had gotten stuck on his clothes. Clearly not someone from Isla. "That is something you do not need to worry yourself about, Mr.... ?" She said calmly as she looked back to the water fountain. The words may have been calm, but there was a warning to them. Not so clearly they stated "back off." She had enough servants from other nobility snooping around her suite and servants if a courtier didn't do the snooping herself. Elina did not care if he were the King of England. She was not going to pour her heart out to him about the fact that her husband to be had gone missing and she was pregnant with his pup.
She already had to listen to all the gossip about what was going on between her and Henry. She did not need some new comer snooping around and learning of what discontented her. That was one less person who knew of her misery and ever would.

Watching the young lycan sitting there he couldn’t help but notice the expression on her face. He was used to having woman quite taken by his charm the instant they met him. However, this lycan didn’t seem as easily convinced. She reminded him of Analiza LeFae, a vampire he had grown up with the drove him up the wall most days. She had been the one person he knew from back home to never fall of anything he said, even if he used his best manipulative charms on her. To this day he could not stand the woman, as they simply did nothing but bicker as two siblings would over just about everything.
Julian kept his mouth closed as he quirked an eyebrow at the young woman, running his tongue over his fangs. They had decided to make an appearance the moment he had picked up on the pulse coming from the young woman’s body. The mere knowledge that there was a living being with blood pumping through her body sitting here in front of him, caused his animalistic side to peek out. Even if it was only slightly. So far he was able to control his cravings as one would call them however, they sometimes they caught him off guard. It took a moment for the fangs to retract back leaving his smile once again normal. Unless the woman was keeping her eyes constantly on his face, she wouldn’t have noticed the slight change. When Julian first tried to control his urges by not slaughtering anyone who walked into his path, he had struggled to keep things under control. Over time it became somewhat easier, to this day he still found himself having to focus on it.
Hearing her question only proved his theory that she seemed like someone he knew. Shaking that thought out of his head, Julian chuckled at her response clearly having come on too strong it seemed. “Holt, Julian Holt at your service M’lady.” he explained his blue eyes sparkling mischievously down at her as he half took a bow during his introduction. “Forgive me if it sounded like an intrusion. I was merely concerned…Miss…?.” he added hoping to make it seem as if he was prying into her life. Granted that was exactly what he was doing but the young woman did not need to know that. That and with his last little comment of adding miss to find out her name, Julian might finally be able to add another face to a name he had heard.

She looked to him for a moment, thoughtfully. That sparkling charm and mischievous smile and glint in his eyes reminded her all too well of Henry. So alike this Lord Holt and her future husband had. He certainly was a nosy little bugger. Brown eyes looked him up and down at him thoughtfully as he requested her name as well. "Elina. Elina Cali." She sad calmly as she looked back to the fountain. If he had been around the court long, she was sure that her name came up in whatever gossip that came up near him. She hoped he hadn't been around long enough for that, but she suspected he probably had. Luna would not be so kind to her to put someone who hadn't heard of Soon to be Princess Elina and her unfortunate luck in a choice of husband. Not that she chose Henry to be her mate. No, she owed that entirely to her father.
She supposed that was part of why her father had been so willing to allow Elina to leave if Henry didn't come back in time. He might feel a bit guilty for his daughter's current state. He hadn't been pleased at the thought that his daughter carried Henry's child already, but he accepted what had become of his daughter, and if she wanted to her herself and her pup up in the Scottish highlands, he would let her. He may have been a greedy man-whore, but he did prove time and time again that he loved his daughters. Her proved that whenever her did something like he was doing now, giving her a place to get away from court. Allowing her to leave court. Giving her the solitude from court she so desired.
"And what brings you to Isla de los Lobos, Mr. Holt?" She asked curiously as she looked to him. He certainly did have her curiosity. What was a half-blood doing at court? And how would Vaan take his arrival? Everyone knew that Vaan was fully against all races except for their own. Especially vampires after his first wife ran off with a vampire. She was thinking Vaan would show no quarter to this man whose blood carried a merging of the two bloodlines.

The way that the woman was looking at him was quite odd. It wasn’t the same way a woman looked at him when she was interested or when she was simply checking him out. Most of the time there was a hint of playfulness in their voice. Or their eyes simply grew bigger, sometimes calculating as they sized him up. It usually indicated that Julian was right about the woman and continued on with his attempts to further enjoy himself. Often times it ended up just as he planned there had been a few odd encounters. One night he had found himself in jail not even sure how he got there. Luckily his friend had been there to help bail him out. This was different then what he was used to. It was actually somewhat odd to say the least. It was as if she was trying to figure out if she knew him from somewhere at the same time as she glared right through him. Julian found Elina Cali to be a strange being already and all he had seen from her was her appearance and the odd looks.
Now that he knew her name however, the young hybrid could finally put a face to the name. So this was the woman his half brother was apparently engaged to. He had discovered the name and heard plenty of gossip to go around already enough for Rebeckah to leave him be for a couple of days. Each time he returned to the woman he gave her bites and pieces of things he heard just enough to satisfy the woman’s sick twisted ways. He still wasn’t completely sure as to what she wanted to do, but right now he knew enough. There were things in her plan that he wanted to see go through, simply because he was still jealous that his half brother was far better off them him, and that their mother constantly talked about him to no end. Being compared to his older half brother all the time had been what brought about the negative vampiric side of his during his early 20’s and 30’s.
When presented with the question as to what it was that brought him to the Isla, Julian merely quirked an eyebrow at the young woman. First she was snapping at him for being too nosey, yet here she was posing a question at him that seemed quite invasive if anything. To him it wasn’t, it was simple question but it seemed that no matter what was asked of this woman she would take it as if he was prying. “Now who is prying?” he questioned in a teasing way however, a small smirk on his face. Walking to the bench, Julian sat down at the other end of it, leaning back, his legs stretching out in front of him as he sighed getting comfortable. “However, I am not as paranoid as you might be my dear. I’ve come here to find my family. As you’ve probably already noticed I’m half lycan and my sources tell me that part of my family can be found here.” he explained not giving out too many details only playing it off as if he knew very little of who he was looking for. Crossing his arms over his chest, he glanced at the younger woman sitting on the other end of the bench. “I am simply here to try and reconnect with them.” he added lying about that part. He wasn’t here to connect with anyone but to simply ruin lives that were far better than his. “Now Ms. Cali, do I get an answer to my question or should I move on to something else? Perhaps you could explain some of your ways to me as well as why might a race of lycan’s build their home on a tropical island that is far too hot for its own good.” he added tugging on his shirt that moment letting some air into it. He wasn’t used to such warm weather all year round.

She quirked an eyebrow at his comment about prying. She picked up the teasing note of it, but she never said he was prying. She only got the sense that he was. She shrugged softly."I was merely asking. You don't have to answer." She gave a faint smile and shifted a little in her seat, crossing one long slender leg over the other with a practiced grace and ease. She listened curiously as he explained his situation. He had long lost family he was looking for. She didn't know any Holts here at the court, so she had to assume that it was from his mother's side of the family. "Do you have any names for this family you're searching for?" She asked faintly.
It seemed getting her mind off Henry did a bit of good for her. She was always cooped up in that suite, which was a constant reminder of her mate. Was he even her mate? He did run off and never came back for her. That would take the title of mate away, wouldn't it? She didn't know, but it seemed to be doing her some good to get her mind off her woes. If only there were more things around the court that could do that.
She did not wish to answer his previous question, so she thought it best to answer his other question. "You mean the ways of the lycans? what would you like to know?" She watched him in amusement and for the first time in a while, a laugh, even if it didn't reach her eyes, escaped her lips. "The Lycan court has been here for centuries. Well before I was even born. That is a question you would have to ask King Vaan himself for it is the current Ruler of the lycans to decide where the court is located." She said softly, watching the water as it trickled from the top of the fountain and spurted out into the pool. She glanced back to him, taking in what he was wearing. She couldn't help but smirk at that a bit. What was the man thinking? Wearing all black on a tropical island. That was pure madness. If he thought the spring was hot he should wait and see what the summer would be like. "You might want to invest in some more airy clothing Mr. Holt." She teased lightly, studying him before she looked back to the fountain. A lot of Elina's clothes consisted of sleeveless or strapless articles of clothing for the shear fact that it was so hot and humid here. What little clothing that was sleeved that she owned were in the far back of the closet and only used when her family took trips up to England in the cold months

It had been quite obvious with the tone that Elina had spoken that she wasn’t quite happy with the question he had asked her. With her tone and words, the young hybrid had simply figured she wasn’t someone who was fond of having personal questions being asked of her. Julian was someone who enjoyed observing people when they weren’t looking and as a result he had been able to pick up things on behaviours and just the simple little things that came from them. Elina was sending off a defensive stance in his option and that was why the young man had taken to changing the topic to something more general. It seemed to work as he noticed a faint smile appear on her face. So far so good it seemed. “It wouldn’t be much of a conversation had I not answered the question. It would simply seem as if I really was prying and attempting to gather information from you, which I am not.” he continued to explain. No one needed to know the real reason he was being nice. Or the real reason that he was here on the island was to ruin someone else’s life. Not having a good one of his own, the young man felt that his half brother didn’t deserve to be the one who was happy.
Why should he be the one, and not Julian? Why had Rebeckah loved him more then Julian? Changing his focus of though, Julian thought back to the names he had been giving out to people. “Artorius. Unfortunately I haven’t had much luck in the matter. Either they have changed their names, married or simply left the island.” he explained. The story he was spinning to everyone was that he was looking for some family. The name he was using was Rebeckah’s maiden name one that he didn’t think anyone would remember at this point. So far no one had recognized it and it worked well for him. At least for now because it was coming closer to where he figured Rebeckah would bring her master plan about.
When his question was once again avoided, Julian let it drop for now. Maybe later on he could pry with someone else to figure out what might be the cause of her moping around. Instead he tried to think of something to ask her about the lycans. He did know a fair bit about them, finding his father preferred if he was educated on their ‘enemies’ as it was to some people. “Well I never understood the whole concept of the courts. I do get the hierarchy business; someone needs to be in charge and so forth. However, the rest often baffles me.” he explained playing along, as he didn’t really know how it worked. It wasn’t that hard to pick up however, it if gave them something to talk about, he would play as if he wasn’t aware of what was going on. The next bit only got Julian realizing how hot it really was right now. Granted he wasn’t dressed for winter, his shirt was light enough. “Understandable, however with all that fur it really must be a hassle during the summer.” he offered in a half question half comment. Being half lycan himself, he unfortunately wasn’t as in tune with his wolf as everyone else. He was far more connected to this vampire side. However during full moons it was quite a nasty site to say the least.
The joke was a surprise to Julian, however it seemed that Elina was finally warming up to him in a sense. At least had he been able to make her smile. “Now that is better, a smile and a joke. Seems I’ve taken your mind off whatever clouded your mind before.” he added before looking down at his attire. “What you don’t like what I’m wearing. It’s quite comfortable.” he added a teasing smirk on his face as he sat up a bit tugging the shirt down a bit as he did. “I wasn’t expecting it to be this hot, nor did I think my search would keep me here this long. However, you might be right. Any suggestions as to where I can get more appropriate attire to survive in this tropical paradise?” he asked curiously glancing over at the young woman. Tugging on the front of his shirt, Julian unbuttoned the first three buttons letting his body air out a bit. “Aside from swimming, what else is there to do around here?” he asked curiously.

She pondered over the name for a few minutes while she watched the fountain. It was a name she did not at all recognize. She would be willing to admit she didn't know everyone in the court. Elina was not the sort to go snooping into other's affairs. She supposed that would soon have to end though. She, as of now, was still going to marry Henry... if he returned in time. There was a possibility that she and Henry might have to take to the thrones on occasion. She was going to have to start learning names that belonged to the court. If he returned. " Chances are they have left Isla. Titles and ranks change hands here every few centuries. Mostly because people wish to seclude themselves from court for one reason or another. If they were a prominent family among the court though, King Vaan might know something about them." She glanced to Julian for a moment before she looked back to the fountain. If Vaan would see him. She knew how he felt about a vampire, but she wasn't sure how he would take to a hybrid.
She looked back to him when he explained what it was about the court he did not understand. She smiled and shifted, turning to him a little. "Well if you understand the hierarchy, then you know that the fives houses are the only nobles that are almost equal in power tot he Royal House." She looked to him for confirmation, but she didn't wait for an exact answer. "There is a leader to each house. Usually, they are the alpha of the house's pack unless there is some sort of extenuation circumstance. Each leader acts as a representative of each house, and the King is the representative to the royal house. The six of them are like a parliament of sorts. When the King wishes to make a new law or change an old one, the five houses must all be in agreement to the change or the new law. And when it comes to cases, the King is the judge and the five house leaders are the jury. In order for a case to end in your favor, you have to have at least three house votes. If the King believes something about the ruling of the houses is off, he has the right to prolong the case further in order to dig deeper into the case and order a new verdict from the houses." She sat back a little, looking to see if he understood before she looked back to the fountain thoughtfully. "I'm afraid that the court is all about who you know and how well when it comes to seeing Vaan about cases." Elina hated to admit that about the court. It shouldn't be like that, but it was. And making friends and making friends amongst the court was no easy task much less when trying to make friends with the five houses.
She looked to him when he commented about her smile. He had absolutely no idea just how much he was helping get her mind off Henry. She knew that locking herself away in their suite did her no good, but she couldn't help it. She didn't want to suffer through all the looks and murmurs her presence would get. Julian knew nothing of what was going on. Or if he did, he did a good job of hiding it. Iif he was hiding what he knew she appreciate him not poking at wounds that were already raw and hardly near healing.
Elina's shoulders shrugged up at his comment of the fur. "We usually run in our furs at night. They nights are much cooler than the day." She smirked and looked over his attire thoughtfully. "It's very nice, but it's all black, and you're on a tropical island." She gave him a rueful grin at his comment about the heat and humidity, and his stay here. "Well unless you have a fondness for expensive things, you could find things in the bazarr. If you prefer the expensive, the village plaza offers several shops that house the skills of tailors and seamstresses as well as several clothing stores." She told him casually. Those were really the only options on Lobos. If he didn't like what the isla offered he would have to go to the mainland to find what he wanted.

Julian stayed sitting as he was, facing forward his blue eyes glancing towards the younger woman. He knew that she would be thinking about where she could have heard that name from. Hopefully Rebeckah was before her time and no one else remembered the lycan’s maiden name. So far his search hadn’t gotten anywhere no one really remembering that last name and any family that still lived with that last name was no longer on the island. However, he had only been talking to the common folks and it could still be well known amongst the court or the royal family. He knew that if he asked the King about it the man might remember the name. It was one of the reasons why Julian was keeping his arrival on the Island such a secret for now. Rebeckah would probably be pissed if he let her plan fail in some form or another. Part of him still wanted to gain her acceptance while the other part wanted nothing to do with her. It really was conflicting to say the least. “I’m beginning to think they no longer call Ilsa their home. Given this is the prominent home of a great population of lycan’s I figured starting here would be best. Even to get information on where else they might have gone.” he added shifting on the bench, leaning back, his arm going around the back of it as he got himself comfortable.
When Elina started explaining some of the things about court, Julian pretended to listen. He knew enough that he really didn’t need the lesson; however it was a good way to get her to at least trust him in a small way. If he wasn’t prying into her life she might slowly start warning up to him. At least that was what he hoped. Most women tended to easily take to Julian but it seemed that this one he would have to work on a bit, which only gave him something else to do and focus his time on while he waited. “Interesting, seems somewhat similar to that of how vampires rule only far less… how can I put it…civil.” he added figuring she had smelt that he was a hybrid by now, at least now that he was sitting down right next to her. “Are there actual cases that get to the King? Or is it all just done by someone of lesser power and only the big ones get taken to him?” he asked curiously knowing that was how most governments worked. At least that was how it worked with the ones he was aware of. The humans and the vampires had a similar notion when it came to that and it made him curious if everyone did that. ”I find that no matter what you do in life, it is always about who you know. Whether it’s fighting for your rights in a case, finding a job or simply living your life in a somewhat calm manner. It is quite unfair if you think about it, for those who are new to certain areas or societies not knowing anyone as they try to fight for a fair living.” he added giving his opinion even if it wasn’t needed.
Julian knew that there was a lot of fur that came with the change; however he himself had never fully changed into a wolf. In a way he got stuck halfway as a very ugly and fury half human half wolf. It wasn’t pleasant for him and one of the many reasons he tended to go off on his own when the full moon was up. “Good to know that at least the nights will be far more bearable then the days. I still don’t get why anyone would want to live their whole lives on a tropical island. Whoever thought of only stopping by for a few weeks on a vacation had the right idea.” he teased before pushing his fingers through his already messy hair. “As you can see I am not that concerned about the quality of the material. As long as it is comfortable and airy as you put it I am quite fine with that.” he added tugging on the front of his shirt to let a bit of air in before he popped open a few of the buttons as well. “Given what you’re wearing I am sure you know what I mean by comfortable. I find it hard to believe some woman would be willing to stuff themselves into uncomfortable things in order look pretty. To me they just look in pain and a trying far too hard.”

She thought for a moment as brown eyes watched the fountain. She had never heard of the people he was inquiring about. She might have to walk through the gallery and see if there was any evidence of the family he saught. She had a feeling he wasn't being completely honest, but she kept those thoughts to herself for now.
She quirked an eyebrow at his comment of civility. "I've never known the ways of the vampires to be very civilized." She commented calmly, looking to Julian with a faint half smile. It was true enough. The vampires could be more animalistic than the lycans sometimes. At least those were the stories she heard. Elina has never had the pleasure of actually meeting a vampire. Julian was the closest to a vampire she ever met. She shifted when he asked his question. "All cases are seen by the king. Depending on the severity or lack there of it is put in the schedule of cases that he will see over the court's season. If it's something simple like a land dispute, it takes the lowest priority. It's the Prince and Duke Richard's duties to decide what cases take what priorities." She explained quietly as she thought about Henry. A year ago, Henry Niall was a man whore. He was always chasing skirts. Never did his job. Left all the responsibilities to Richard. Elina had finally fixed that. She thought she had gotten through to him. Just when she thought he was starting to change. He runs. She didn't understand. She just didn't. She tried to keep that confusion hidden from those she spent time with when she wasn't locked away in her bed room.
She smiled faintly and nodded her head in answer. "I'm afraid there is a bit of an unspoken dress code when it comes to court events. I currently do not participate in any court proceedings, so I like to be a little comfortable." She smiled congenially. She failed to mention why she was not currently attending court. It was none of his buisness. If he didn't already know what was going on with Elina and Henry... then Elina wasn't going to be the one to open her mouth. It was none of his buisness. The only people who had any buisness in the current predicament was her, Vaan, and the pup growing in her belly. "Unless it's a formal even, the court is a bit lax about the dress code though. " It was true enough. She only dressed up in the dressy fancy clothes when there was a formal event. Like the masquerade. It was only days away now. And still no Henry. If he wasn't back by the night of the masquerade. She was leaving. A part of her feared that he was never coming back to her. That she would never see him again. That's why she wished to run away.
Yes. Elina was willing to admit that she was running away. She couldn't help it. She didn't want to be here if or when Henry returned. She thought it best for all the involved parties that he doesn't know about the pup. He wasn't ready. She looked Juilan over thoughtfully for a moment. " Will you be attending the masquerade, Lord Holt? I hear it is going to be one of the biggest events of the court season." A congenial smile crossed her lips even though she certainly didn't feel like smiling. It would be best to keep appearances up at the moment. He didn't seem to know who she was, so for now, she wasn't going to let on just who she was. For now she was only Lady Elina Cali. Not Baroness. Not the future princess of the lycans. Just Lady Elina. "The gypsies will even be there to perform a few numbers." She smiled softly at the thought. Elina didn't consider herself a particularly religious or superstitious, but she enjoyed the gypsies. They were a lively bunch. So full of life even when they led the hardest life on the island.
