You know there were several disadvantages and advantages to being a lycan as Casey had been finding out for the last several years. An advantage one might ask? All the enhanced this and that. All the smells, sights and sounds that she had never been able to see, smell or hear before. It was like a whole new world in her mind. Of course the extra stamina and durability never hurt either. Specially with Casey and her propensity to get in over her head. Not that she would ever admit it. but hey! What could she say? But then there was the downside to all of this too. Since she had been bitten, she had little to no control over when she changed. Take this afternoon for instance. She had fallen asleep at her desk writing in her journal and woke up in agony as she changed into her wolf form. She knew this type of pain well. It wasn't as much of a surprise as it had been the first time around. When she thought that she was dying and all. Ahh she hated the spontaneity of it all. If she wanted to change, then she would have liked at least some type of warning. She hated the "all of a sudden bam! your an animal" way this worked.
Geesh!
Well whether she liked it or not, she was stuck like this now until she could focus on changing back into her human form. But you know--being a wolf wasn't all that bad. She didn't mind it sometimes. And so nosing the book that was on her desk (and now on the floor) closed, she walked over to the corner and grabbed the small black messenger bag. It had a change of clothes in it for when she decided to change back. She had found out the hard way that the clothes didn't change with you so to speak. That poor guy...that was an embarrassingly awkward moment that Casey hoped never to have again. She hadn't meet that guy since, which was probably a very good thing. Now the next question to ponder...where to go?
Then it hit her--the beach. That was one of her favorite places to get away from it all. It always had been...at home and here. The water, the sand, the breeze...she loved it. Always had and always would. It always seem to remind her of home. And while it hurt her like nobody knew to not be there with her family and other friends, she knew there was also a load of good memories about it too. It wasn't all bad. Smiling (well on the inside at least), she grabbed her small messenger bag and then she was off.
It wasn't that long before she made it to the sea. Placing her bag behind a small group of rocks, the small wolf made her way into the ocean. Taking a deep breath, Casey's nose tingled as she smelt the salt water. And the soft breeze rustled her fur. She took one cautious step after another until she was knee deep in the salty waters. The water was cold against her skin, but she didn't care. She closed her eyes and just drifted away. She was in her own little world. Ahh there was nothing like this....nothing in the world...
Geesh!
