Staring into her mirror, Dawn knew she looked paler than normal. Her mind just had far too many thoughts rolling around inside for her to keep them straight. Luna, she missed Henry. She missed that stupid boy’s banters and the way he loved to find new ways to piss her off when all she was trying to do was keep him safe. Growling deep under her breath, she reached out to the glass and ran her fingers over it; her nails had turned into claws so they left marks etched into the image. Three and a half weeks. The prince had just up and left, no word, no note. Nothing. He left his family, his fiancé and every person that gave a damn about it. Feeling the tears begin to swell up in her eyes, she pulled back her fist and punched the mirror, scattering the glass into thousands of pieces. The shards splintered into her knuckles making her hiss under her breath when she examined the damage done. Shaking her head, she used the claws on her other hand to act like tweezers to pick the pieces out and place in the trash can. At least she now had an excuse for getting a new mirror in her bathroom. With the last piece gone, she licked the wound clean before wrapping a towel around it to speed up the clotting. No point in bleeding to death before the masquerade. Snorting, she turned on the shower so warm water fell out of it. The whole thing was a joke; Henry wasn’t going to be there. He was still...gone. Dawn glared at the water before turning it from warm to hot and stepping in after dropping the towel around her hand. After washing her hair and cleaning off, she dried off quickly and wrapped her hair in large pink curlers. It took only a few minutes to apply light pink eye shadow, thick liner that gave her eyes that cat like appearance, and mascara. But even as she went through the steps, her spirit wasn’t in it. The family she had stood by for so long was falling apart, slipping between her fingers like bits of sand. She left the bathroom to locate her dress; the price tag nearly screamed bloody murder but hell money mattered so little to her. Pulling up the thin straps, she couldn’t help but enjoy the feel of the cool material brushing against her warm skin. Removing the curlers, she shook her hair to loosen up her curls. Dawn glanced into a full length that she hadn’t destroyed and was thankful her hand had already healed up since it hadn’t been a deep cut. Of course, the scars were there making her roll her eyes. Those too would be gone by that time tomorrow. Walking to the door of her room, she stepped into a pair of white high heel shoes that matched the dress perfectly. Holding her head up, she walked down the small hall of her home but stopped and glanced into the weapons room and chewed down on her lightly glossed lower lip. It felt odd going to the palace without a single knife or blade somewhere on her body. Pursing her lips, she continued on right past that room. The she-wolf wasn’t going as Captain of the Guards tonight, she was simply Dawn Roseburn…Vaan’s date. Scrunching her nose, she shook her head knowing how silly that sounded. Arriving at the palace, Dawn slipped her wolf mask over her face really not wanting to have any of the guards speak to her. Of course they would know it was her, a lycan’s nose was almost impossible to fool but with the mask on maybe she wouldn’t be looked as so funnily. Her eyes widened at the sight of the room, most of the nobles were already dancing around and having a good time in their costumes. Spotting Vaan’s throne, she really began to question how sincere he’d been about her being his date.

Nate dressed quickly though he made sure he didn't look sloppy. He'd showered off forced to use the mango soap since he didn't have the heart to ask his lord for something else after all soap was soap and his lord didn't seem to mind the scent or at least he didn't appear to. He scrunched his nose a bit and put on some cologne successfully hiding most of the scent from the soap. He slicked his hair back and straightened his tie in the mirror grabbing his mask as he left to meet his lord and head to the Masquerade with him. Now more tha ever he had to be on his toes with his lord. There would be a lot of people there at the ball and it was an easy way for him or any of te other nobles to get hurt. His wolf growled at the thought of anyone getting to his lord. He'd be keeping a keen eye and nose on his lord all night to make sure no one tried to poison him or attack him. Nate gave himself one more look over in the reflective glass pane of one of the windows as he waited for his lord. His suit wasn't the most extravagant and it most definitly wasn't the most expensive but it was of good quality. Nate had never worked to many jobs that paid well and he wasn't so old that the money he had saved up had accumulated and given him a size able sum of money. He wasn't dirt poor but he wasn't rich either but he had made sure his attire wouldn't reflect badly on his lord though he hadn't been able to resist the fool's mask he'd bought. Nate was a good guard and took his job seriously but outside of that he was a fun easy going guy who loved to smile and joke around with his friends. He was recently starting to smile more around his lord but he tried not to he was here for a job and relaxing and joking around was a serious no no that could cause his guard to drop and his lord to be harmed. Nate kept a vigilant eye on his lord as they arrived at the palace. In away it felt like Nate was coming home. Even though Nate did own a small home on the island he was never there enough for it to be home and really it was more like a storage place for the few keepsakes he's accumulated on his way to finding the place where he belonged. The palace though he'd spent queit a lot of time here and it had become a home his small room more than enough to keep him happy and content. He realized that while he was starting to get comfortable in his lord's home he had really missed the palace. Once inside Nate was shocked to find that Captian Dawn hadn't arrived yet. The Captian was always the first to any and every large event held in the palace she made sure that all the guards were on their toes...maybe she'd left to change she'd probably already been here and left to get ready. He was shadowing his lord when he caught his Cpatians scent and smiled at seeing her all dressed up. He adored his Captian like one might adore their older sister. For all the chastizing and rigorous training and the endless yelling while doing punishment drills she had really made and impression on him and he wouldn't ever let her down or his lord. He looked at the man in question as he socialized with the other nobles. There were quiet a few guards around him at the moment and the Captian was within eyesight of his lord. After a short debate Nate left his lord's side momentarily and headed over to his Captian he should at least say hello and tell her how beautiful she looked every women deserved to be complimented and Nate had been making small poliet comments to the ladies of the court when it had been appropriate. Nate's quick clipped stride brought him to his Captian within moment taking a position where he could look at her while still being able to keep an eye on his lord. He gave Captian Dawn a respectful bow. "You look very beautiful tonight Captian."

Beginning to feel silly for being at a masquerade waiting for a date, Dawn sighed heavily as her wolf began to whine softly. She wanted attention, affection. Maybe she was being a little spoiled by Vaan’s heated glances and soft touches. Should she draw a line in the sand of how much attention he could give her? Did she even have the strength to tell him no? Her wolf nearly laughed before she was forced to realize there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the king. Shaking her head, she glanced around the room to skim over the bodies curious as to who had showed up and who hadn’t. The main couple, Henry and Elina, was not anywhere to be seen making her wonder what was keeping them from their own guest. It wasn’t like Elina to keep people waiting for her, but with Henry still being MIA, Dawn doubted the young woman’s strength to show up alone.
Movement off to her side grabbed Dawn’s attention just in time to spot Nathaniel. A quick pass over the area and she spotted Lord Arawn chatting with some nobles. The young guard made his way over to her causing her to smile softly. Up close, she had to laugh at the fool’s mask and how out of character it was for the job he was assigned to. Yet, the Captain knew under his serious side was a playful side. Surprisingly, she really did know most of the guards even if they didn’t realize it. “You are very handsome tonight. The mask suits you.” The compliment well deserved because even if the suit was simpler then what most of the other nobles had on, it fit well on his body. At his bow, she nodded her head in acknowledgement.
A deep breath in brought an interesting scent to Dawn’s nose. It was coming from Nate, but it wasn’t unpleasant. It was definitely some type of fruit. One that always made her mouth water. “I didn’t know you were a mango kind of guy.” Laughter bubbled up from her mouth. This was definitely a different side of the Captain anyone around the palace was use to seeing. She was calm, at ease, even willing to joke around. Naturally, she blamed Vaan. She blamed that man for making her mushy on the inside whenever she thought about him instead of the cold icy bitch that kicked guards off their butts when they slacked. What was worse, the she-wolf didn’t have a single blade on her body just in case something happened. For once, she was relying solely on the guards around the grand room and even Vaan to keep her safe. It didn’t feel right, her wolf scuffed at the idea of allowing anyone to protect them and what was theirs.
“It’s not Captain tonight, Nate.” Smiling behind the mask, her eyes seemed to sparkle with a hint of mischievousness. “Just Dawn.” Oh the gossip that might stir up because of those two sentences. Glancing around, she caught the eyes of many curious party goers. Once more, she realized that not a single blade was strapped to her body making her wish all the more Vaan would show up to ease her strange feeling.
“And I think my date stood me up.” A frown sat on her lightly painted pink lips as her eyes flickered to the clock.

Xavier was in the suite with Revell napping much of the day since he had gone on a run and hunt with him. He was all cuddled up to Revell with his head on his mate's shoulder and his arm over his beloved's bare chest, snuggling even more into him. Yawning he stirred and opened his eyes slowly, rubbing at his eyes gently with his finger tips. Smiling sleepily watching Revell he looked at their alarm clock on the end table seeing they had a while yet but he didn't want to miss anything fun. More then anything he wanted to dance with his mom and with Revell the entire night he wanted that so much. Softly moving from their bed he slipped his robe over his blue tank top and black and red wolf paw pjs that he loved. Sliding his feet into his favorite black fuzzy slippers he went into the bathroom, quietly . Unwrapping the light blue wraps from his hair he shook his long and very thick mane out, looking at himself in the mirror. Taking his shower he peeked out from the shower to listen if Revell was awake yet. Showering he closed his eyes and took care of himself, turning off the water he stepped out. Drying off he wrapped some towels around himself then put his robe back on. Xavier smiled and blow dried his hair until it was all try, rewrapping his dreads locks in some gold wraps for the ball. Coming back out he went to Revell and kissed him on the lips seeing if he would wake up from it. "Revellllllllll honey wake up." Grinning he kissed his lips again and went to the closet and took out their suits and masks putting them onto his side of the bed. Putting his robe down he started to get dressed right away first in his favorite boxers then his suit for the ball. Peeking over to see if Revell was awake yet he softly hummed to him. Waiting to put o his black/red and a little bit of white striped tie on so he could have some help with it. Fixing his hair a little bit again he finished getting ready with his shoes on his feet last off. Changing out his eyebrow piercing with a gold ring then changed out his tongue barbell with a brand new black on. Getting his eye makeup on he loved the smokey look with some black liquid eyeliner, some gold and black eyeshadow around his eyes then put some mascara on his mega long and thick eyelashes. Very nervous about the ball it was Xavier first time at a court function as a couple and courting. Looking down at his beautiful mask and put it onto his face. Tieing it up in the back he turned around looking at the mirror making sure that his mask was straight and covering what it needed to up. "Honey how do I look?" Turning around in a circle he smiled happily and moved to put his tie on, Xavier had never really worn a tie before so he wasn't really sure about how to put it on.

Oh he was late! Dawn was not going to happy about this, not in the slightest. Most would ask how could the King be late to an event, he and Lord Frost had arranged not a month ago, this was the engagement party less than twenty four hours before the wedding of his eldest son Prince Henry. He feared that Dawn would not forgive him for such a mistake, it was clumsy of him. Not only that, this was the first public event that they would be attending together as a couple, not as master and servant. It would be a night to remember, either he would be spending the night on the sofa, cold and alone or they would be celebrating a union happily dancing the night away.
However there was one thing that had not escaped his mind, Henry what if he did not return? What would happen next? It would mean Elina would leave, with his unborn grandchild in tow. It was a thought he would rather avoid, but that now seemed impossible. It was fate that seemed more likely with every passing moment, would his son return in time? That was a question even the King could not answer. His pace quickened as he drew closer to the main hall, with a guard or two in his wake. Vaan entered the main hall subtly, not yet wanting to be spotted just yet.
He simply wanted to surprise his lover, his eyes scanned the crowded hall for his captain. For once he was struggling to spot her, she was dressed much like the rest in a glorious, shape hugging dress with a mask of some description hiding her beautiful features from anyone who glanced in her direction. There was something familiar about one of the guests, the way the man held himself, it was confident but at the same time rather defensive, protective of the one he spoke to. Vaan would start there, with that man who was clearly a member of his guard. Hopefully he would lead the King to his one day would be queen.

Revell smiled at kisses. He got up and rubbed his eyes smiling when his mate peeked over at him humming. He stood and stretched then went into the bathroom showering quickly. He blushed when he got out and realized he’d left his suit on the bed where Xavier had placed it. He peeked around the door and smiled when Xavier asked him how he looked. “Very handsome mi amore. You look absolutely stunning.” Revell took in the sight of his mate for a moment before mentally shaking his head then walking out and grabbing his suit and clean boxers for himself. He went back into the bathroom to change. Revell didn’t want to make Xavier uncomfortable by changing in front of him. He buttoned up his shirt then looked in the mirror and ran his figners through his hair spiking it slightly since it was getting long and was still wet from his shower. He’d never been one for styling his hair or doing make-up like Xavier though he figured more than combing his hair nicely would be a good idea for this occasion. He would see if Xavier would mind helping him, his mate had such an eye for these types of affairs. Revell opened the bathroom door looking at Xavier then cocked his head his brows furrowing at how Xavier had tied his tie. He walked over to his mate smiling softly. “You tied it backwards love.” He chuckled and undid Xavier’s tie retying it properly and smoothing it over his mate’s chest with a gentle slide of his hand. “There perfect as always.” He looked into Xavier’s eyes and leaned forward kissing his lips softly. His mate truly looked lovely in his mask and suit. Revell had always liked going to the court functions in the past to see Xavier dressed up. They had been extra special occasions not only had he been able to see Xavier in formal attire but those had been the few times that he’d been able to talk with him without having to worry that he was giving to much attention to the young Xavier. It had been an appropriate time to talk even if the conversations had been short and about shallow topics then. Revell looked back into Xavier’s eyes “Do you mind helping me now that your all ready?” He winced as he asked knowing he was in need of some help and hoping Xavier wouldn’t mind to terribly.
