The night was calling to Dawn, pleading with her to run through the island woods for the whole night until the sun came up. Her sister wolf ached to give in, wanting to be free from the confines of the palace. For once, she wasn’t there as the Captain to over look the guards. She was there as a mother. Sort of anyways. Her heels clicked on the stone steps as she started to go into the palace heading for Xavier’s suite hoping to have a quiet night with her bebe. It wasn’t that hard to see why she had taken a liking to the boy when he was first brought to the palace. He was so cute and seemed like the type that needed a mom to help guide him in life. On that day, her wolf had stepped up and instantly proclaimed him as hers. Not so much in words but in actions by watching over him, making sure he had the best tutors, and that none of the courtiers were naive enough to pick on him.
As her foot hit the last step, she glanced over her shoulder at the woods trying to fight her sister wolf. But why was she fighting it? The night was still young, she had plenty of time to play and talk with Xavier before he needed to sleep. Her eyes turned back to the halls before sighing heavily. There was no way she could sit in a room for a few hours, even with her pup, while her wolf was panting to go for a run under the moon. Offering a silent, ‘sorry’, she turned to head for the woods. Her eyes flashed into her wolf as her pace speed up when her nose caught the scent of pine and fresh leaves in the air. Stepping behind a tree, she kicked off her boots before stripping her clothes to throw them on a branch. Already her skin felt like it was about to burst if she tried to control her wolf any long, so she allowed the old magic to do its work while grey fur split her skin apart. Her limbs twisted and broke to rearrange as her mouth shot forward turning into a muzzle. In a matter of minutes, Dawn rose up on four legs in her wolf form, her golden eyes glowing in the dark woods.
Shaking her fur to fluff it up slightly, her claws dug into the dirt getting a feel for it before she took off running through the woods. Losing track of the time, she ran through the trees happy to be outside. Her wolf howled in pleasure at being free to race and weave through and under limbs. Her nose picked up the scent of squirrels in the trees, the ocean water a few miles away, and the scent of other wolves. There should have been no reason for the other scent of wolves to cause her alarm but her sister wolf was restless, stirring. Without warning, her back paw stepped on to the metal plate of a bear trap, springing the gears so it closed around her foot and caused her body to slam muzzle first into the ground. The sharp edges cut into her body, drawing blood and forcing her to whimper in pain.
Releasing the most sorrowful howl she could, she tried to think straight, tried to get up but found that with the bear trap crushing her back leg she was stuck. For the first time in years, she was afraid for her life. “Are you sure that’s her? Doesn’t her sister have the same pattern?” The voice from behind the tree stirred Dawn’s attention as a woman, the one who’d spoken, walked out followed by a man. Her wolf allowed Dawn’s eyes to peer out to recall just who had set the bear trap. Lord Frederick and his daughter Lady Jasmine were all too familiar to Dawn.
“Summer never strays too far from Angel’s side. This one definitely smells like Vaan.” Hearing the king’s name, she snarled from her spot on the ground while the two walked closer. The man’s hand curled around the handle of a sword at his waist only making Dawn’s sister wolf growl furiously at him. Rising to her feet, she snapped at him to keep his distance while her eyes glared at Jasmine. “Who would have known a simple bear trap would capture the might Captain of the Guards. Not so high and mighty now are you?” Lord Frederick was taunting her and it was working as Dawn’s eyes glowed golden brown as her wolf begged to eat him.
A fiery sting burst at her side making Dawn glance back slightly to see an arrow sticking out her side. Lady Jasmine stood behind her father holding a crow bow that was already loaded again. They had no plans to shot her in the head once, they were out for blood it seemed and wanted to make sure she was dead. Before she had time to think, another arrow was shot at her front leg making her slam back down to the ground. Panting, she snarled at them, daring them to come closer to she could bite into their necks but they all knew with the bear trap on her back leg and the arrow in her front, the woman was stuck.

Xavier was needing a run himself but wanted to spend time with his mom, to him Dawn was his mom blood or not. He was in her care and had grown up into a fine well adjusted young man. In his suite he was working on a portrait there in his art studio, looking out the window into the woods. He was itching to get out and just run and jump around over the trees. His brother wolf was barking and barking at him to stop painting and get out into the brightness of the calm night. Thinking about everything his mom had done for him since he had been there he smiled and looked down at the portrait it was of his mom just by herself in human and wolf form on the sandy beach in the spring time. Not ever picked on by the courtiers he was always happy but still had trouble making friends growing up but that changed.
He waited for his mom so he could show her what he was working on. Looking around the studio he had so much stuff there at the moment and needed to present the portraits to the people he made them for. Smelling her scent he smiled and put the brush down waiting for her. Moving to his feet he cleaned his hands off and looked at himself in the mirror making sure he didn't have any paint on his face. Seeing her through the window going into the woods he understood and would finish up his portrait so he could get all cleaned up to meet his mom. Xavier was still young so he did have a curfew on when he needed to be home and asleep but that was okay.
Taking his shower after he finished he opened the double door of the balcony with marble stairs, he loved his suite it was near the woods. Hearing the howls he knew anywhere to belong to his mom he smiled and glided down the stairs. His hips swayed always as he walked but it was something he was quite used to and happy with. Moving to the edge of the woods and stripped his clothes off, hanging them up on a tree branch for safe keeping. Shifting into his wolfself he shook out his mass of fluffy fur, barking. Sitting down he groomed his paws some and went off on a run. He wanted to run with his mom and just have some mother/son time.
Running as fast as his paws could carry he stopped dead in his tracks. Hearing the howl he knew his mom was in trouble or hurting in some way, he took issue with that. Howling himself to let her know he was near by. He wasn't a very happy wolf when he smelled unknown scents along the way to his mom. Hearing voices and the snarls of his mom from behind a bush, his large black muzzle and nose poked out. His teeth were bared he was snarling the entire time he slowly walked out of the brush. With those large ears pinned against his head, Xavier was one livid wolf. He stood before his mom snarling at the idiots who were harming her. Just daring them to do something stupid he had every intent of making those moments for them a pure and living hell. Using his own body to shield his mom from the loones, he stood there between the losers and mom, snarling.

Growling deeply, the hairs on the back of Dawn’s neck rose to make her appear even bigger than she normally did. There wasn’t much she could do with them being just out of her reach. Already, her back leg was bleeding from the bear trap digging into her body, the more she moved the more it dug deeper into her flesh. The arrow in her side felt like it was ledged between some ribs and she knew the one in her leg had gone clean the limb. Breathing was become heard to go since it felt like the arrow was digging more and more into her side. Thankfully, it wasn’t silver tipped, her wolf would have been howling in pain instead of snarling and trying to still fight back.
“It always disgust me seeing someone rise above their station. For you to think you could be with the king…its laugh about.” Lady Jasmine shook her head as if thinking about it just disgusted her to her core. She raised the cross bow again; aiming it clearly at Dawn’s other leg. Lifting her head, Dawn heard Xavier’s call and wanted to scream at him to stay away. She didn’t want him anywhere near the Lord and his daughter. Rising back up to her paws, she forced her body to stand on all fours instead of just submitting to their wish for her to roll over. The Captain rolled over for one male and even then he had to work for it.
A glance to her side made Dawn see the too familiar muzzle of her bebe and her wolf went crazy. She barked and growled at him to leave, pleading with him to turn away. Her growls only grew louder as Xavier stood between her and Lord Frederick. “Jasmine, shot the little boy in the head. We came to kill the Captain not play with some pup.” Nodding, Lady Jasmine adjusted her aim towards Xavier making Dawn snarl and move, trying to fight against the bear trap. Her wolf was going crazy seeing an arrow aimed at her son. The clamps on the trap only dug deep into her leg but she ignored the pain, ignored it because her baby was in danger and anything happened to him there would be no saving the two lycans standing before them.

He hadn’t a clue what was going on but when it came to his mom he would protect her with his life. His call was loud and very near by where his mom was. Seeing her in that much danger and hurt he wasn't about to stand by to let it happen. Being barked and growled at by her he didn't move a muscle. Standing firmly where he was he snapped at the poor excuse for a Lord's face oh he wanted to rip him apart just as much. He was going to show them he wasn't some pup to be picked on and that his mom wasn't to be messed with. Xavier would take pure delight on playing with the morons before him. Slowly stalking toward Jasmine he snapped at the Lord again, he was one pissed off wolf. His fur was standing on end and made him look a bit demonic there. Taking another livid snap at the Lord who was nothing more to him then a bully who had no right to be doing what he was doing. To him people like that deserved anything bad that happened to them, for kharma to come back and bite them right on the butt well guess what it was coming right back at them in the form of a pissed off wolf.
Xavier wasn't scared he was doing what he needed to despite his mom trying to get him to go home. He felt that's what she was trying to do to spare him but when it came to his mom he wouldn't leave her like that. His claw nails dug into the ground and left huge paw prints behind, he was out for blood. Not even thinking he tackled Jasmine and ripped away at her, his powerful jaws were ripping chunks of meat from her body. Her screams filled his ears he didn't care she was trying to kill his mom and aimed an arrow at his head so screw her. His pure angry howls, growls and snarls rang out, blood had soaked his muzzle, fur ears and paws. Shaking his head as he ripped blood flung all over the place he double dared the Lord to come save his dying whore of a daughter, payback was a bitch wasn't it. The man wasn't getting out of there alive he would make sure of that and was a promise. He wasn't done yet with the girl by a long shot, the arrow was still there he would have a use for that.

The sight of Xavier might have been a relief if she was any other lycan. However, seeing her pup didn’t ease her worry, if anything it was increased to a whole new level since there was no way she could protect him and herself. Dawn did something she hated because it dug at her pride. She howled, not the typical howl at the moon as if respecting Luna’s pull over all wolves but a deep pleading howl that another lycan would hear. Her son was in danger and he wasn’t listening to her. A fact she would smack back into if she made it out of there alive. Tear seemed to swell up in her eyes watching Xavier make his stance blocking the lord and his daughter from her. There was a spark of pride in her chest when he snapped at the lord but the male didn’t even seem phased by it. A smirk sat on his lips watching the black wolf huff and puff, he seemed to sure of whatever he had planned like there was no chance her pup could even hurt him.
Snarling, she wanted to dig out Lord Frederick’s eyes and stuff them down his throat for contemplating hurting her pup. Her wolf was out for blood now and the only thing stopping her was the bear trap which no matter how much strength she pulled it only increased it’s hold. Shaking her back leg, she attempted to break the damn thing’s hold but she feared she was only going to screw up her leg even more. Lady Jasmine’s finger rested on the trigger about to pull it before Xavier lunged at her. Dawn growled encouragements, wishing he had left to get help but no less proud of him for attacking the little bitch. Her wolf panted in delight seeing the blood flow from the dead lady and the chucks of meat being ripped from it. If only she wasn’t being held back by the trap she would have rushed over to feast on the snot’s corpse. Her eyes instantly locked in on Lord Frederick whose face had begun to twist into a nasty scowl.
Growling deeply, she shook violently to get his attention. It seemed for a moment he had forgotten about the real reason he and his daughter had been staking out the forest. Large claws broke through his fingertips as he pulled his clothes off without a care while dense white fur coated his body. His change was accelerated by his rage at seeing his daughter eaten alive before his eyes but his sights weren’t on the boy that had done it but Dawn whom he blamed for his child’s death. She naturally wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. The arrow in her leg was throbbing painfully as she began to lift her body back up off the ground, but the combination of the two arrows and the sharp bear trap on her leg was causing the Captain to loss far too much blood for even a lycan to with stand. Already she appeared to be standing in a puddle of her own blood as the moonlight casted an eerie glow on the dark crimson blood.
Lord Frederick lunged at Dawn, his jaws open and his claws poised to kill. Dawn’s own fangs were extended but she hadn’t the strength to stand anymore as her body crashed down to the earth floor. A snarl rose from her lips, watching the lord come after her.

He for once wanted to protect his mom from harm since she always protected him and she needed him. Xavier howled with her and knew he was going to be royally grounded for not listening. But in his case he would gladly take the grounding. Quite livid with the loser he was leaving the loser for someone else to play with oh yes if Vaan got wind of this there would be hell to pay. Xavier could find other ways to hurt the loser other then physically he was counting on it. His eyes his anger filled eyes stared straight into Jasmine’s there was no pleading from him, no whimpering, no submitting but brute strength and more heart then a great many lycans could dream about. Ramming into Jasmine with great speeding there was a sickening thud to the ground. Ripping the bow away he shook it in his mouth and sent it flying through the air.
His teeth and claws took over the job, ripping and tearing huge chunks of meat and muscle away, not stopping even when she was struggling and hitting him on the head. It was just pissing him off more and went a step further, ripping her limbs apart. Looking up at Frederick licking his lips he added insult to injury and took the dead slut’s head into his mouth, ripping it from her shoulders and tossed it. Not afraid of the blow hard Frederick he left the body in pieces on the ground but his mom would get to feast on the body. He had indeed eaten some of her but his mom needed the food more then he did, standing there in a pool of blood with the liquid covering him.
Stalking from the blood leaving bloody paw prints in his wake his head was lowered with pinned back ears. Growling he slowly wasn’t about to let his mom be hurt anymore or killed. He heard the chain of the trap jerking he howled again at the top of his wolf lungs for others to come. The moonlight bathed his bloody fur he looked like a wolf from hell at that point and time. Quickly bolting over he clamped down on Frederick's tail and dug his paws into the ground jerking and pulling him back by the tail he would be damned letting that jerk get near his mom. He could stand the injuries but his mom was loosing to much blood, someone needed to hurry and come.

Hell was about to break loose. "What the hell is going on!" He boomed at the sight before him. Dawn's leg caught in a trap and Xavier covered in the blood of the now dead Lady Jasmine. Someone better have an explanation for this.
~Rewinds~
Vaan rarely left the safety and comfort of the palace. However his brother wolf was craving the feeling of the wind rushing through his pelt, to feel the ground beneath his paws and he rushed through the trees. He would not deny his brother wolf of this sensation but not just yet would he shift into his wolf form, giving over control to the beast within his mind.
His mood was never higher, everything was perfect. His feelings for Dawn had been revealed and returned. Life could not be any better but speaking of the alluring captain, Vaan could not help but wonder where she was. Normally she could not be found more than a hundred meters from him but maybe the space was a good thing. Everyone needed time with no-one but their brother or sister wolf, the King knew this all too well. He would often shut himself away from the world in his office or take a long walk through the gardens.
He often preferred his own company on days like this one. Court life was just too much for the King sometimes, it drove to the edge of sanity and back again. The wind picks up, rushes past him carrying the smell of blood. His good mood collapsed in a second, someone was injured. Just because he was royalty didn't mean he would stand back and let them suffer.
His strides became longer as he broke into a run in the direction of the injured party. In his haste, he had not noticed the scent of his beloved and the scent of the youth Xavier Hollows. The young man who had caught his eye. He was a unique fellow who had yet to prove himself in his opinion. An act of selflessness would prove he was the perfect candidate to join Vaan's own pack. He only selected the best of the best.
His eyes narrowed in frustration, his brother wolf howled feeling everything that Vaan felt. It was a separate mind but they shared the same heart at the end of the day. Neither one one of them could stand anyone being attacked and injured in their territory, they had to help.

Taking a run through the woods had seemed like a good enough plan before going to see Xavier, but it appeared that Dawn had been incorrect in that thinking. She should have been paying more attention to her surroundings, she should have realized she had been followed while in the woods, and she should have been better prepared for something like this. Her frustration was directed more at herself than Lord Frederick and his daughter. Of course they played a major reason in that frustration but having been Captain for nearly a century she felt like her body should have been more honed got such an event like this one. Instead, she was trapped like the animal she appeared to be. The more she thought about it, the more her wolf rose up in anger wanting blood for someone having put her right back in the position of a new born pup.
As Lord Frederick charged at her, Dawn simply laid on the ground, snarling and growling. She wasn’t able to stand but she wasn’t going to die without taking him with her. However, he yelped in pain when Xavier’s jaw clamped around his tail to hold him back. She howled out, barked, snarled, did anything she could to get her pup to leave. The last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt and already he was covered in blood, either it was his or the dead Lady Jasmine’s she had no idea. Struggling to get back on her feet, her wolf felt the pain, felt the arrows but tried to ignore them if only to get Xavier to leave.
A new scent fell over the clearing, King Vaan’s form rushed out from the tree line, demanding a reason for the madness. Glancing up at Vaan, she couldn’t even begin to explain the situation since she was still in a mild shock that someone had attacked her because she had been stupid enough to give into her heart for once in her life. Was it such a bad thing that a commoner or even the Captain was in love with the King? Was it such a terrible thought that he might and did love her back? For some reason, she understood why Lord Frederick and others might think it was a terrible thing but that didn’t mean she had to accept their thinking.
Dawn feared changing back to her human form, feared it because the lean muscles she had in her legs were preventing the trap from reaching all the way through the leg. If she was to change that would force the arrows to move, tearing more skin, muscle, and causing her to loss even more blood. Lord Frederick seemed to become very still while glaring at Vaan from his own wolf form as if debating his next move. He no longer seemed to notice his tail in Xavier’s mouth or how close he was to attacking Dawn. If anything, he lowered his eyes quickly trying to appear innocent like none of this was his fault.

His quiet had gone on without a hitch and having time with his mom was always welcome but it slowly all went down hill in a flash. He was sick of people just trying to cause trouble and death, Xavier would help stop it whenever he could. Hearing the pained yelp he dug his teeth further down into Frederick's tail he had every intent of leaving the traitorous idiot without a tail or dead worked for him as well. His pelt was still dripping Lady Jasmine's blood he wasn't hurt just livid but then anything quite upset and was doing what he had to for his mom. Hearing his mom doing her damnest to get him to leave he looked at her not letting go of the tail.
Smelling the new scent himself he saw Vaan come out, looking at him he jerked the tail of Frederick still quite pissed off at him for everything he had done. Xavier would let go and shift to tell the King what had happened but he wasn't quite ready to do so. He had smelled the scent of the King on his mom so he figured out bits and pieces. To him if his mom loved the King and Vaan loved her back he was all for it and didn't see a damn thing wrong with it, so people who didn't like it could shove it. Not seeing it was at all any of their business.
He looked at his mom his ears drooped seeing the state she was in he wanted to nuzzle her but he had to make sure she was safe first. Not showing any weakness he wouldn't be some weak pup and growled when Frederick tried to act like he was innocent oh please and Xavier's tail would grow longer then it already was as if. Letting go of the smelly tail he snapped at the wolf's hind quarters. Shoving Frederick muzzle first to the ground with his shoulder he went behind a bush, shifting into his human form. Since he had nothing on and blood soaking him he didn't come out but spoke from where he was. "Sire I found my mom like this, I was out running and I heard her howl. That man and his daughter wanted to kill my mom, he said “Jasmine, shot the little boy in the head. We came to kill the Captain not play with some pup.” Sneering at Frederick he wanted to rip his head off and chew on his bones after.

Vaan was not a happy camper, the sight before him sickened him to the core. Dawn injured, Xavier quiet and covered in blood. His eyes flashed between the golden eyes of the inner wolf and his own ice cold Grey eyes. A storm was brewing within the King and it was about to break loose and someone was going to pay. Stepping into the clear, the whole atmosphere changed in an instant, the tension in the air was clear.
His eyes quickly moved between the lycans in the clearing, taking in every detail of the scene before him. It was certain that this was no accident, this had been planned in detail. Lord Frederick leading the assault against his lady love. No mercy would been given for this terrible crime against his pack. No-one lived after attacking any member of his pack. Vaan would personally see this was carried out.
“Lord Frederick, I care not for your pathetically weak reasons and well through out excuses” His voice cut through the silence. His anger and rage were clear, wrapped tightly around his words as they escaped his lips. This deep, strong feelings for Dawn were now driving his every motion as he made his way closer, his eyes fixed upon the silent lord.
“Why so silent?” He asked, taunting the man trying to get to speak. With every step he took, the change began. Feeling bones thicken and widen to the thickening muscle and sinew, his eyes changing, shifting. Thick coarse hairs spread from the pores, covering every inch of his form. Molars moved aside for more teeth as canines grew sharp and elongated to long points. Vaan’s more human mind slipped back, letting the wolf take over. It wanted revenge, it wanted to taste this lord’s blood for what he had done. Attacking his chosen mate was unforgivable!
The wolf was in complete control now.
Without a second thought, the wolf lunged forward with murderous intention glowing in his sunburst eyes. A loud piercing howl escaped it’s mouth, as his claws and jaws tore at the man in question. Ignoring all who were present, revenge had to be carried out. No-one would stop him. His razor sharp talons easily broke through fur and muscle until blood freely flowed. The very smell drove him further, blood lust was starting to consume the normally docile and gentle king.
For a moment, he had forgotten Xavier, he had forgotten Dawn. Red had taken over his vision, he was seeing nothing but the red of his traitor’s blood. Neither Vaan nor his brother wolf would be satisfied until his own pelt was coated in Frederick’s life force, until he was lying dead upon the forest floor.
Vaan could not hear the words Xavier had spoken, for now it was not important. For now words did not matter, only the actions of this vengeance driven king mattered. An oral report would be taken later when this mess was over. An account from both Dawn and Xavier would be taken, listened to and written down.

Lying in the dirt, Dawn panted and began to relax her muscles, trying to ease her wolf’s strong need to fight anymore against the bear trap. Moving anymore would only force the iron prods deeper into her leg and it was already far too deep for her to ignore much longer. The arrows weren’t too high on her concern list even if they were uncomfortable. Growling under her breath, she glared at Lord Frederick and even at Xavier for continuing to ignore her plea for him to leave the woods. Why did he have to pick now to act like a full blooded lycan instead of the pup she had raised? She wanted to scream at him for being stupid. All because he couldn’t leave he had killed one she-wolf something that would likely follow him for the rest of his life. The first kill was always the run that haunted you the most after that you became numb to the fact you took another being’s life.
Raising her head, she whimpered at Vaan but the sound cracked in her throat watching the emotions play across his face. His strides forward cooled her blood as he was hell bent on going directly for the lord. Each step sounded like a crash of thunder right over her head making her want to bury her head in the sand as if this was somehow her fault instead of Frederick’s. But it was his eyes that told her every single thought racing through his mind. There was the obvious anger and rage but it wasn’t coming from Vaan the man, his wolf was taking over in a way she had never seen. Her wolf instantly responded to it by breathing heavily in her mind for a reason she didn’t have the time to think about.
She ignored Lord Frederick when Vaan entered the area, the king had grabbed her attention making it nearly impossible to look away. Titling her head to the side, she took a deep breath in of his scent letting it wash over her to sooth her wolf’s raw nerves. Even if his normally cool scent was coated in a heavy layer of anger it still helped Dawn’s sister wolf think clearer. Lord Frederick tried to stand his ground against Vaan but when the king shifted his eyes gave away all his fears for death. Clearly the lord hadn’t thought it possible that tonight would be his last. However, her eyes weren’t on him but the king watching his black fur spread across his skin while his muscles were pushed and rearranged into a strong lean wolf.
She was starting to see how terrible it was for Vaan to allow his wolf too much control as the beast tore apart the lord, chunks of his body flying even as he tried to defend himself. Dawn only hoped Xavier wasn’t watching after what he’d done to Lady Jasmine knowing that those images would plague his dreams for the nights to come. One moment, Lord Frederick had been struggling to fight back, the next he lay there with that glazed over expression in his wolf eyes. She felt no remorse as she howled as the lord died at Vaan’s claws. If anything, her wolf was stirred up after watching him get so enraged on her behalf.
Oh Luna, what was she to do? Her wolf was torn between the need to check Xavier and the need to snap Vaan out of his own wolf’s lust for blood. Her pup would have to wait and hopefully stay in the bushes to stay safe before she gave his backside the biggest lashing ever. Whining, she tried to get Vaan’s attention from her spot on the ground but didn’t like the disadvantage she had because of the damn bear trap. Standing up, her jaws reached down and jerked the arrow out of her leg to fling across the clearing. Trying to remain calm, she turned her head slightly to wrap her jaws around the one in her side to pull it clean out of her body. It burned almost reminding her of a hot coal being pressed against her flesh but she had to keep focused for what she needed to do.

He knew his mom was pissed off at him from her growls and her glaring at him. Xavier wasn’t proud of what he did and wouldn’t ever be, still the pup she raised. It was his mom so he couldn’t act like a pup anymore and just run away and hide, it would be something he would end up regretting for the rest of his life. He knew he wouldn’t have been able to look at his mom or hold his head up if he hadn’t done something. That would be his first and only kill of another being he hoped to god it was. It had been easy for him to do he had never killed another lycan before but regretted the entire thing. Watching Vaan confronting Frederick for what he had done he had given all his mind do process at the moment. Not moving from the bush all he could do was stand there feeling ill from the blood all over him but he wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it. His ears did picked up the sounds when Vaan had come into eyesight and peered at him through his mass of bloody hair.
Xavier wanted it to be over and have his mom out of the trap so they could go on home where it was safe. Watching the shift and watched Frederick the bully afraid of the King and what might happen. He had only seen Vaan in wolf form a few times but for nothing like that. Lowering his head he could hear the ripping and the thuds of the body chunks on the ground. The smell of blood filled his nose again and it was over, Frederick was in a pool of blood on the ground. Listening to his mom’s howl he didn’t move from behind the bush but would wait until he barked to before coming out. God why would two people falling in love or have feelings for each other cause people to get their panties in such a bunch then bad enough to want to kill one of the people.
He looked at his mom hearing her whine for Vaan and hoped Vaan was helped before the lust didn’t stop. Alright where he was Xavier knew his mom was going to give him a major lashing on his backside and it would be the first time. But he wouldn’t complain or pitch a fit over it. Rubbing his shoulders a bit he was cold from the blood dripping from him, being in his fur would maybe help but he wanted a bath. So he could at least be clean before his mom kicked his butt and grounded him for the rest of his life. Plus he needed to see if he had any bruises but didn’t think he came out of the fight without any bruises or injuries in general but was more concerned about his mom’s wellbeing then his own.

Blood was consuming his every thought. The Blood lust in the King was strong, especially now he had taken the life of Lord Fredrick. His brother wolf was howling happily, blood dripping from his snort and it seemed like nothing could draw the King back into the driving seat.
Vaan himself was where the wolf usually resides, watching trying to force himself back but failing every time only to be pushed back further and further into his own mind. This was problematic! The wolf’s golden gaze turned to Dawn, taking in every inch of her injured form. Her leg was still trapped, something would have to done about that after he had finished with the now dead lord. His anger had just to be truly spent.
He needed more blood, more chaos and more destruction to attempt to make up for the attack upon his beloved almost mate. She was his world and no-one would take her away from him, now she had been found. The true mate was the hardest to find and Vaan would not let it escaped his hold. His heart was her, his soul was her, his body and mind belonged to Dawn Roseburn forever and a day.
Normally Vaan would never allow this to happen, to let the wolf take the ropes that controlled every inch of his body but today was different. It had to happened, revenge had to be taken for this terrible crime. Anger, rage flickered in and out of his sunburst eyes narrowed as they stared at the broken form of a once strong lord.
His pelt was in a worse state than Xavier’s. Covered in blood, guts and other bodily fluids after he violently tore Frederick into many pieces, most would never be found in this vast place. A lust for blood like this one was rare, it was uncommon for one lycan to riled up like Vaan had, most had such control that this kind of situation would never occur. Vaan himself had great control but today changed everything. It showed him exactly what Dawn could do to him, rip his control to shreds in a matter of seconds.
The King had enjoyed the feeling of destroying this traitor, enjoyed seeing the light leave his eyes as his life force bleed onto the forest turning it a terrible shade of red. Suddenly the sound of Dawn’s whining brought some of his humanity back to the surface, made him realise what he had done. He had taken a life in the pursuit of revenge, for love. Oh what was he to do now? The lord was long gone from this world and Xavier was standing not far from Dawn.
His beloved had seen the monster that lurked beneath the surface, she had seen a part of him that no-one should ever see. For now this was pushed against, her health was the only thing that mattered. Turning his lean body towards her, he was able to see the true extent of the damage to her own wolf form. A bear trapped clung tightly to her, digging through the fur and flesh. An arrow lay before her, Dawn herself had removed it painfully from her own leg. His darling captain needed immediate medical attention and he and Xavier needed a bath to wash away the blood.
Torn between shifting back or remaining like he was. Vaan was frozen to the spot at the sight of the blood that rushed down from her wounds. The wolf growled softly in his ears, trying to get the king moving towards Dawn. His paws slowly moved him towards Dawn’s trapped form, trying to give her comfort and inform him Vaan the man was back in control but the wolf was still there lurking behind the man.

The lord was gone; pieces of his remains were splattered on the earth, painting it a bloody crimson while other bits had ended in Vaan’s fur. Dawn could honestly say she had never seen Vaan like this, so enraged and panting from his internal battle to gain control. There was no way for her to know all his rage and anger had risen up because of her. Her wolf had accept it long ago they were mates, at times she still doubted that Vaan loved her, but Dawn’s human side continued to struggle to get over the bump of the odd pairing they made.
Dawn kept an ear out for Xavier, knowing he was close by and had seen this darker side of the king. As much as she wished to rewind time, the pup would have to live with his first kill along with witnessing another. When Vaan grew closer, she reached as far as she could to lick his nose clean of the blood splattered on it. Her wolf wanted so badly to wash him herself but with the trap still wedged into her leg it was impossible. Most of all, she wanted to curl around him to simple sleep the night away by his side for a change. They’d only merely kissed since finally opening up to each other, she wasn’t sure how well her luck would hold out if they went farther no matter how much her body and wolf wanted to. It seemed from Lord Frederick and Lady Jasmine a few kiss was taking it too far which pissed her off to the point she was far tempted to step up their relationship just to shove it in the nobles’ faces.
The problem Dawn was having with her own wolf right then was how very excited she was by seeing Vaan’s wolf form covered in blood. Her own desire for him rose up when she’d only been feeling pain for most of the late evening. It made no sense, her foot was in a trap, she had two wounds from arrows, and all she wanted to do was pounce on Vaan with less than noble intentions. In her heart, she knew he was her world and no matter how hard she had fought it over the years, them being together was right.
The sound of pounding feet grabbed Dawn’s attention making her head whip around in the direction of the noise. Out from the bushes, stepped two guards who quickly surveyed the area, eying the two dead bodies and then to Vaan and Dawn. “Your highness…” The first one spoke up his voice sounded shaken as if he couldn’t understand what was happening. The second however seemed less phased by the gore and if Dawn remembered he’d been there for most of all the murders she’d committed and likely wasn’t fazed by two bodies. Instead of questioning anyone, he stepped over to Dawn and wraps his hands around the bear trap.
As he pulled the clamps apart, a deep strain was evident on his face making Dawn question what kind of trap had really been laid for her. A normal bear trap wouldn’t have been so difficult to pry open by a lycan. There was no warning, one second the clamp was digging into her leg, the next it was ripped from her causing her to howl out in pain as more blood flowed from the wounds. Rolling over, she slipped her leg far away from the trap, whimpering softly as her muscles started to feel stiff and at the same time a liquid. Warm hands gently picked her up, cradling her to a chest making her want to bite at the jugular of the lycan but knew she wouldn’t be able to make it all the way back to the palace.
The moon over head held a blood tint to it as Dawn was carried back to the home away from home she had grown to love. Her eyes began to flutter as her mind shut down every thought expect for the necessary need to breathe causing her to pass out in her wolf form.
