This hall held such memories for Lord Arawn Frost. It was here where he had first meet his future wife, it was here where he had proposed to his beloved. These memories he held close and never wanted to let go. It was all still so vivid.
In front of his eyes it played out like a movie on the silver screen as he made his way over to the grand piano. With each step, another scene appeared to him. Each was happier than the one that came before. For Arawn this was a place of joy and happiness, it was the place where his wife still lived in spirit. She loved when he played the piano for her after all that was what brought her here the first time. His music made her smile, made her feel like dancing, made her want to meet the man or woman who played so beautifully.
However he had not played since she was taken from him so violently. His muse had died with her, his sweet Anne. Music no longer flowed from his fingers as they caressed the white and black keys of the piano. He still had his little girl and the last piece he had written simply titled Phoenix. It had been written the day after she had been born. It was his gift to her, she was his treasure, his shining star but his daughter had never seen it. Locked away in his office, along with his music he had written for his wife in a black folder covered in years of dust.
But yet he felt drawn to this room and this piano, where everything had started. Maybe this would be the day music came back into his life. Pushing the stool backwards, he took a seat at the piano. Lifting the cover, revealing the keys which screamed for his touch. His hands, lifted to gently rest above the keys, taking a deep breath he began to play.
It was Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat. A smile spread across his lips as the music once again flowed from his fingers but who would it draw in this time? Arawn would wait and see but for now his music was what mattered until they crossed the threshold of the hall, lost in the music he was playing.

The young Lady Fairnix’s boots made a low clicking sound on the floor as she slowly wandered around trying to find something to do. She hadn’t been feeling well this morning when her mates had asked if she wanted to join them for the morning to do something. Instead, the expecting mother simply shook her head and spent the good part of the morning in the bathroom instead. Now that her stomach settled, the young lycan had taken to getting herself something to eat hopefully to keep the items down. So far it seemed that her attempt at a meal was successful as she managed to keep some chocolate chip muffins down, one of which she was currently munching on. Walking out of the kitchen, the young lycan woman let her feet take her wherever they wanted to. She wasn’t paying much attention to anything right now. Her mind was focused on other things.
With everything that happened in the woman’s life lately, it was a wonder she was even walking around all calm and collected. The one thing that most didn’t know about Nix was she knew how to present herself in public meaning that often times her true feelings over something weren’t shown. At least not when it was something personal. On occasion people would get a display of her temper or witty nature, but that was it. The woman preferred to keep some things to herself. It had been hard to do so when half the court found out about Gabe’s mishap with another woman. She loved her mate despite that and that was all that anyone needed to know. Thankfully her fowl temper had gotten a few people off her back due to that incident which she was grateful for.
Still thinking about everything, Nix turned a corner while thinking about how despite everything there was one good thing that she had to look forward to. In a few months she’d have her own pups to worry about despite all the fears she had about how her mates would take to them. It wasn’t till a string of music hit her ears that Nix stopped her wandering for a moment. She stood there in the hallway listening to the music, her love of dancing coming to the surface as she listened. Ever since she could remember the young woman had always loved to dance. It was a wonder her two mates weren’t tired of her constantly dragging them around a dance floor. If they were no available the young woman took to whoever was simply because she enjoyed it so much, letting herself go to the music. Nix couldn’t help but notice that the music sounded as if it was coming from a piano. Seeing as she hadn’t really heard anyone playing that before, her curiosity getting the best of her as the young woman followed the sound to its source.
Not surprised that she found herself in the music room, Nix pushed open the door walking into the room a smile appearing on her face when the music grew louder. The urge to simply dance around the room was getting the best of the young lycan but her curiosity was winning as her blue eyes fell upon the figure sitting at the piano. For a moment, Nix just watched the man’s fingers moving along the keys unable to believe what she was saying. There in front of the piano was her father, someone whom she didn’t expect to see there. “Father…” she asked a curious tone in her voice as she wondered if maybe she wasn’t seeing things clearly and merely imaging it. However, she knew she wasn’t which caused her to walk slowly over to the piano. “I don’t recall you ever playing…” she mused wondering if when she had been younger he had done so. Given how much time it has been, she could have merely forgotten. Her bright blue eyes continue to watch him, wondering what had caused the older man to suddenly take to playing.

A familiar scent reached his nose, the smile on his lips widened. Ah his daughter had followed the sweet music created by his fingers. Her very presence had a dual effect upon his weary body, she warmed his heart and calmed his nerves.
The perfect companion to his music, this was what he needed. Her voice tugged at his heart strings. It was true he had never played after Anne's death. "I have never felt the need to Nix, my muse was gone" He told her, sadness clinging to the words. It was hinting at the source, her mother. Time had helped to heal him, the wound on his heart was still there but it did not bother him. It ache and burnt but Arawn carried on with his life.
Anne was never far from his thoughts. "I would often play for your mother" It just flowed from his mouth, he was not thinking about his words or who he was speaking to. Phoenix needed to know and he needed to replay the memories once more. "It was how we met in this every room" His fingers never stilled, Arawn carried on playing but the tune changed to the one which had drawn Anne to him on that fateful day. It was happy but underneath there was something lonely coming through.
His future wife had asked, if he was lonely, and if he was then would he like some company. She was always thinking of others, his caring wife. "I don't see you as much these days but a father knows his child is pain Phoenix" A father sometimes found it hard to speak to child in situation like this one. Arawn was not blind, something had happened to his child and he wanted to help chase the pain and hurt away.
He did not want to change the atmosphere in the room, cause tension to rise between them. This was a time of memory, brought on by his music well on his part at least. Regret shot through him for a moment,, maybe he should have played for her when she younger but that was the past and could not be changed.
Even though there moments he wished he could have changed or prevented like Anne hunting that night, when the moon had been painted red as another took her life, sending her into the next. Nights like that he regretted and thought of often when he is alone in his study late at night.

Nix let herself get lost to the music that her father was playing. She always loved music no matter what kind. There was just something about it that seemed to call to her and she never really understood why, but despite the lack of it coming from her father, she still enjoyed a great variety of music. It seemed that part could not be kept from her life. She would have liked to have her what her father could play but it was too late not to dwell on such decisions and past actions. If he was playing now maybe she could convince him to at least play for her pups once they were in born.
Tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, Nix sat herself down on the piano bench next to her father, watching his fingers flying over the keys with ease never missing a beat even while he proceeded to have a conversation with her. Her mother was always a touchy subject for both of them. Her mates had learned not to really ask about it even if they knew what had happened. Nix always found her mother to be a bitter sweet memory, often wondering what it would be like if she was there now, instead of having been killed. Lately she had been wondering more and more about what if would be like if she was here now or later on in life to see her finally have pups of her own. Or to simply see what kind of al life Nix had grown up to have.
Hearing her father mention that he had often played for her mother, caused Nix too look up from her trance. She sighed and lightly wrapped her arms around her herself as she sat there still listening to the music. “But never for me…” she pointed out to his comment about playing for her mother. It hurt to know that he didn’t find it necessary to play for her or even have muse to do so. But things were how they were and Nix knew she couldn’t really change it, at least not now. Now it was too late. Looking around the room, she smiled sadly not having known her parents had met in the very place she often came to in order to find her own solace. Too this day she had great memories in this room.
The young lycan woman was taken out of her thoughts when she heard her father’s statement as to her pain. “Is it that obvious?” she asked curiously wondering if it was easy to read her or if he just knew her well enough. “I guess you’ve already heard about what happened with Gabe…” she asked leaving it as a statement and half question seeing as a good part of the court had already been filled in about the gossip. Problem was it wasn’t gossip but the truth and that had caused Nix to not only worry but be hurt at the same time. What no one knew was she blamed herself for what happened. Trying to push those thoughts away, Nix let herself focus on the positive, and this caused her hand to fall unconsciously to her stomach. “Mind if I ask what sparked your muse father, given that you’ve not played for all these years?” If it was a memory about her mother that brought about a more cheerful side to her father, she was interested in hearing about it.

Her words wounded him deeply but there was truth behind her words. Arawn had never played a single note of music for his daughter through out her childhood. As she grew, he could see his Anne in her, in the way she moved and in the way she spoke. It hurt him, more so with every passing day. His brother wolf grieved along side him, howling when the moon waxed and hiding away in a dark corner of his mind when it reached its peak.
This could not be helped. It was his way of grieving, shutting out what he loved, what reminded him of the days spent with his beloved before and after Anne became his wife and mate. "I regret not playing for you but your mother's death was still painful for me. I could not play as I once did" He said, trying to explain the reasons behind his actions. Maybe one day soon he would reveal the score he had written for her but not just yet, as things needed to set right.
It was obvious to him, Arawn was not blind to his daughter's plight.
He kept a close eye on the ongoing relationship, wanting nothing more than his Nix to be happy. Arawn had never approved of Drake and Gabriel but they made her laughter, smile and brought life back to the flames. "I do but I wanted to hear it from you" His voice was soft, caring. This was the voice of a father coming through, who wanted to protected his little girl from the harsh world.
"What are you going to do?" He queried, Arawn was curious about what she was planning to do next but whatever she decided. He would be there, standing behind her supporting her corner. "A memory" His answer was vague as his fingers danced across the keys, changing the pace of the score. The memory of meeting Anne for the first time sparked his muse but his daughter presence was keeping the flame alive, feeding it making it grow higher and higher until it touched the ceiling.

When she had been younger, Nix had mourned her mother as any child would. However, now that she had two mates of her own, she knew that the pain was a whole lot deeper for her father. She understood that it was a whole world of pain losing a parent but it was even more painful losing a mate. The mere thought of her ever losing one of her mates always brought an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. Despite it hurting her to have her father shutting her out when her mother had died, she knew he was still hurting to have lost the woman. Even with the calm and collected face he put on for court and everyone else, she could tell there was pain and sorrow still hidden, eating away at the older man. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear Nix sighed and looked over at her father when he mentioned he regretted not playing for her. She knew her mother’s death had taken a great toll on him but maybe now was a time for change. “It might be too late to still play for me, but it doesn’t have to be for my pups.”’ she offered hoping he wouldn’t shut her pups out because of her mother’s death. Maybe the news of her being with pups would bring a bit of happiness to their lives.
Despite having wanted to keep her personal afire private, it seemed that nothing was real kept secret when it came to living the court life. Not that Nix had expected anything else; she just hoped there would be a bit of time for her to work something out before it got around. It seemed that hadn’t been possible. She knew her father’s dislike for her two mates but that never really stopped her from doing what she wanted. It was yet another trait she seemed to inherit from her mother if not having it as her own personal quirk. They both had made her happy, despite the antics she and Gabe tended to get into at times. “I am at loss at what to do right now. I still love him, but I’m not keen on what he did. Granted I do feel like it’s partly my fault in which case I can’t really blame him.” she admitted finding it hard to figure out what she should be doing in this kind of situation. It wasn’t that she didn’t love him anymore. And the fight had been partly her fault. If they hadn’t fought he wouldn’t have gone drinking and part of her felt like it was hard fault. The young lycan wanted nothing more than to bury head her in her hands and make the whole thing disappear.
Hearing that it had been a memory that sparked his creative muse, Nix wondered which one had brought this about. She had never seen her father playing and it had already been over a century that she had existed. “Which memory sparked a little life in you, father?” she asked curiously. Since her mother had passed, Arwan hadn’t been too keen on reminiscing about his wife and mate despite the many times that Nix had asked. After a while, the young woman simply stopped asking and let the subject rest not wanting to cause her father anymore pain.

The loss of a mate was the worse kind of pain in this world that Arawn had ever experience. He had been stabbed, beaten and that it not compare. Without Nix, he would never had survived that knife as it drove into his heart.
Now she was beside him, lost and pained by one of her mates. It was time to step up and be the father she needed once again. Every word he listen closely to, each held meaning and emotion behind the simple words as they flowed together forming sentences. It was too late for such moments between father and daughter but there was always future generations.
"I look forward to it" He said happily, the very thought of playing the piano for his grandchildren made the pain in his heart and sorrow in his eye fade for a moment longer than normal. The pain never really would be gone, it always would be there in his eyes and in his heart. No one could replace his Anne but there was always the chance he could love again but did Arawn really want to?
It was wasn't that he didn't like his son-in laws, it was just he hated to see her unhappy and Arawn wasn't certain they could keep his Nix happy. This new development added to his doubtful thoughts. "Dear daughter, we men are fickle creatures and arguments will happen even if you try to prevent them" He started, Arawn himself had fought with Anne often over the smallest things. It was sign of a healthy relationship, fighting then forgiving and moving on.
Time was a great healer "Give him time" If Gabriel loved his daughter like he said he did, this would all work out for the best. Well the lord hoped it would, he would hate to see Phoenix lose one of her mates. His daughter did not need to go through the heartbreak that he had all those years ago.
"This is not going to disappear overnight, sit down with Gabriel and tell him how you feel, this is up to the two of you to work through this rough patch" He advised calmly as his fingers slowed down. It was coming to an end, his creative muse was drying up for this evening.
"My first meeting with your mother. I met her much like this evening" He told her, turning his head with a large happy smile on his face as he recalled the memory. It was rare for him to speak of his dearly departed mate but tonight he would break his silence for Nix.

Over the last several days Nix found herself thinking too much about her mates and the current situation she was in. For a long time, the young lycan hadn’t wanted to give into the whole pup idea because she was worried that it would cause conflict. However, it seemed that the lack of pups caused even more conflict which was now escalated to her other fears springing to the surface. Not only was she now worried about the pups and how things would be when they were born but she was worried about Gabe falling into his old habits. She had been reassured that people change but with recent events it seemed as if they had been wrong. Thinking about losing Gabe in the process of all this was really getting to her. She loved the man but with how things were she was worried he no longer felt the same.
The same feeling she got when she had found out her mother had been killed slowly started to return. It began with what felt like an empty feeling inside her stomach as if a hole had been made sucking out all the food she ate. Then it spread to an uneasy feeling throughout her whole body before she started feeling like she was sick when she wasn’t. The way Nix saw it as was as if a piece of herself was ripped out. The feeling was slowly coming about now, only it was starting off with the small empty feeling. With her father mentioning he was looking forward to her having pups, Nix found herself snapping out of her current train of thought. A small smile came to her face as she sighed her hand resting on her growing stomach. Recently she had found out that it wasn’t a pup but twins. It wasn’t a surprise given that her mates were twins and that lycans did produce in multiples anyways. “I’d hate for your grandchildren not to be aware of your talents. Besides, you need to spoil them twice as much now…” she told him referring to her mother not being around.
Another reason why Nix hadn’t wanted kids was because she didn’t want to think about them growing up without knowing her mother. It still pained her to know that the woman would not be around to see them. The young lycan thought it wasn’t fair at all. Thinking about all this was making the unnerving feeling she was having grown bigger. “It isn’t about just a small argument father. We have those all the time.” she explained before sighing softly. Nothing was going right. Gabe had returned after the incident to tell her of what happened before he once again vanished. How was she supposed to give him time and talk to him at the same time?
It was in moments like these when the young lycan was hormonal and at a loss that she wanted nothing more then to be a child again being able to curl up in her parents bed between the two safe from the world around her. “You’re right, hopefully we can work this out. For now I’ll stick to giving him some time.” she admitted in half defeat. Right now though, Nix figured it was best not to mention that Gabe had left after he came back the first time to explain himself. Granted with how news travels she wouldn’t be surprised if he knew. However, the young woman had tried to keep that between herself and her mates. This meant she was often lying to people about where her husband was.
Finding her moods to be all over the place lately, Nix sighed and leaned her head against Arawn’s shoulder. The mention of her mother brought a sad smile to her face as she sighed memories proceeding to flood back into her mind. “Would it be too much of a burden if you told me about that day? How you met?” she asked wanting to get her mind off of her problems in order to indulge in a happy memory instead.

His musical talent would not be wasted, Arawn was certain of that. Yes he had lost his muse many years ago, he was hopefully one day another would spring up, whether it be a friend or lover did not matter. However his daughter was right, he would be spoiling them for both Anne and himself since she would not be here to see this glorious day. The birth of the grandchildren she had desired from the moment their daughter was placed in her tired arms.
“I will do Nix” He smiled, trying to fight back the memory of that day, the day Phoenix had been born and the conversation that followed. Anne loved children, whether they be her own or friends. She was patient and loving with every one, it was a quality that made him fall deeper in love with his wife. Arawn still clung to that love, never wanting to let go of the past. This was one of his many faults, he could not let himself move on and love again. He would not be unfaithful to her, in his heart he was still married, still a husband and mate.
His brother wolf still howled at the moon, missing their mate and gentle lover. She had been his first love and in his mind the last woman he would ever love. Nix was his daughter, he would love her no matter what, through ever problem she encountered with her pups or mates.
“I can speak to Gabriel if you want me to, my dear” He suggested, biting his tongue. The father in him wanted nothing more than to rip out the young lycan’s throat for what he had done to his daughter. However this was not the solution to this particular problem, it would only create more drama, tension and branches on this tree before them. Many paths that could be taken, many right and wrong choices but it was Phoenix’s choice. Arawn could only advise his daughter, she was an adult and could no longer influence and shape her life the way he had when she was a small child.
This was something he had hoped would happen. The relationship between father and daughter had weakened, become strained over the years but now this was step in the right direction. “Never for you Nix” He responded, chuckling softly enjoying the feeling of her head on his shoulder, it was nice to sit like this.
“It was during one of the King’s annual balls, I was a young and shy lycan who wanted to escape from the many courtiers. I was a wallflower, searching for silence and peace” He started his tale “I found this hall and started playing anything I could think of, your mother had the same idea as I and heard me playing. She followed the music, stood in the entrance watching me for a moment” Anne had explained to him that his music had drawn her in like a moth to a flame.
“She asked me why I was playing such a sad tune, she was frightened me at first as I thought she was my father who found me about my conduct” Arawn could always remember his father, scowling him for this and that but conduct and rules were everything to him. “I could not say a thing, just stare at her as she stood there” Anne had looked so breathing that evening, dressed in her finest dress and jewels but that did not matter to him. Her voice sounds like a choir of angels, it was soft and curious nothing like his mother’s. She did not care for her son; she only cared for status and her standing in society.
This was only the beginning of the tale but he would tell the entire story from start to end.

Nix couldn’t help but laugh when she heard her father suggesting that he could speak with Gabe about the situation. She knew that speaking meant a completely different thing to her father then it did to her. For all she could tell he was ready to tear Gabe a new one, she knew she would have been the same way had someone hurt her pups. Thinking of that, the young lycan sighed rubbing her growing stomach as she hoped that such heart ache would not befall one of her pups. “As helpful as that sounds, I highly doubt your definition of speak in this situation is the same as mine. Besides I rather not make the situation worse by having one dead or near dead husband because I allowed my father to settle the matter.” she teased playfully a small smile on her face as she gently wrapped her arm through his. With her head still leaning against his shoulder, Nix continued to smile as she patted his arm. “I appreciate the thought though, but I think I can handle things on my own. It’s just nice to talk to someone about it.” she explained her eyes staring down at the keys. She had missed this talking to him and simply having him around. Since she had gotten married their relationship had drifted. With the pups on the way, Nix wanted nothing more than to repair the relationship.
The young woman knew it wouldn’t be easy given that her life wasn’t typical or ideal for what her father was used to. However she did hope he loved her enough to look past that in order to repair their fading communication. So far it seemed to be going well but Nix knew this was only the beginning. With her pups on the way she would need her father more and more and she wanted him to be a part of her life again. That and part of her hoped that the addition of the pups would slowly heal the wound left in Arawn by the loss of her mother. It might not completely mend it but there would be something else in his life that would give him some kind of joy.
Staying quite, Nix listened to the story as her father recalled the night he had met her mother. She let her eyes close for a moment picture the scene a sad smile appearing on her face. She had always been told that the young lycan looked a lot like her mother. That and their short tempers were defiantly the same. “Our love of music seems to always find the important people in our life.” she pointed out referring to this moment right now and how she had found Drake in the music room a few times after the two lycan’s had moved to the island. “What did mother do when you merely stared at her?” she asked curiously wanting for the story to continue. She liked this, just sitting there forgetting the chaos and drama around her and just listening to a story like when she was young pup. Nix had never been able to sit through a whole story without asking a million and one questions after just about everything that was said.
Pulling her head off his shoulder for a moment, Nix sighed looking at the older man seriously. “I really have missed this. I know you don’t approve much of my choice in mates, nor do you approve of there being two of them instead of one, but I do hope we could get passed that some point. I would greatly enjoy to have you part of my life again with or without the pups.” she told him hoping her father understood she wanted to have more contact with him. It felt like in the last little bit they had drifted and the memories he was sharing only reminded her that she did only have him left in her life and he really only had her. Biting her lip, Nix waited hoping her father would at last finish the story if he didn’t see eye to eye with what she had just suggested of him being in her life more.

His daughter knew him too well. Gabriel always rubbed him the wrong way, their first meeting had not been a pleasant one if his memory served him well. "You are right there" He told her, chuckling softly acting like she just told him something amusing.
If Arawn had his way, he would be chasing the man off the island before nightfall but sadly, his Nix loved the cheater. There was not much he could do. His own love life was non existent and the lord had no plans to revive what was dead.
The simplest of touches held such comfort for him, it brought him back down to reality, back down to his loving child. The one piece of Anne he had left in this world. The other had died with her, never had the chance to see the beauty of a sunrise. Worry crept into his mind, he hoped that what she said was true, that she could handle what was upon her. Arawn did not want to watch his only child crash and burn from a broken heart, now that would truly kill him.
"I am always here for you daughter of mine, whenever you need me" He offered some comfort that he was going nowhere soon. These moments mattered to him, his daughter was the only good thing left in this life. The years had truly put a strain on their relationship and it now showed but there was was hope, hope that they could be closer.
A bridge could easily be rebuilt, so could their father-daughter relationship. The bud was beginning to bloom and grow into a beautiful rose but this time, it would be stronger and brighter.
Nodding in agreement, even though he did not know about her meeting with Drake within this very room. "It seems so, music brings two hearts together" He spoke softly this time, as Anne's face crossed his mind once more. Oh how Nix resembled her mother, the same secret smile and temper that flared fiercely when challenged.
"She laughed at me, wondering why I was here playing such a sad song" He recalled, as the memory unfolded around them. It was almost like yesterday. The ghostly image of Anne floated into the room, dressed in a figure hugging ball gown. "I just froze, I could not find my voice but Anne was the one who made the first move, taking a seat beside me" Every word was truthful, he remembered the sound of her heels clicking as she crossed the room.
"Your mother asked me to play another song, a happier one this time as she did not want to see me frown" Anne had been very demanding even in her youth, always wanting to make sure everyone around her was smiling happily. His Anne had truly an angel.
Nix had hit the nail on the head, Arawn had never vocalized his disapproval of her two mates but it was well known. Drake he could handle but Gabriel was another matter altogether. "I agree, I miss simple moments like this one" Regret encircled his words, Arawn wished he could turn back time and change what he had done but alas he could not.
His smile widened, if that was even possible. "I would like that Nix, I would love to be part of your life again" He said before carrying on with his tale. "That night brought your mother into my life, if I did not meet her that night then I would never have opened up to anyone" Anne had been the one to show him, there was more to world than politics.

Nix could not help but laugh herself when her father started chuckling. It wasn’t a secret that he wasn’t too fond of either of her mates Gabe especially. Drake was the calm one in their relationship, not only that but he was responsible and logical when it came to just about anything. He was the one that kept Nix grounded and tended to stop her from throwing herself over a table to strangle someone because of something they said to her. Gabe was quite the opposite of that. He was the one that was more likely to be leaping across the table with her to strangle someone. He was the one that caused mischief with Nix and he was the one that brought out a more unstable and unpredictable part of Nix. It was one of the reasons why Nix needed both men in her life. Part of the time she felt she was two people trapped in one body. Despite her being married to both men now, it wasn’t uncommon knowledge that Gabe had been one to be after the woman. Add that to his already energetic personality and it wasn’t a surprise that he didn’t seem to get along with her father. Not to mention his first impression of the younger man wasn’t the greatest.
Thinking about that now only made the familiar feeling at the pit of her stomach appear again. She remembered how it had been when she lost her mother and not thinking that she might be losing Gabe was bringing that feeling back. The unnerving feeling that another part of her was going to be gone just when things should be happy and getting better. Nix could not even bring herself to think about possibly losing her mate, no matter what he did to her. Her wolf was already unnerved about the whole thing and wanting nothing more than to rip the woman he had cheated with into pieces. Not only to show them they couldn’t mess with her mate without consequences but also to show others what would happen if they decided to follow suit. Nix was brought out of her thoughts by the next words her father spoke to her. She swallowed hard before looking up at him a small smile on her face. It was a sad one, thinking about her mother, and how she might lose her mate too now. “I know father, and I might be living my own life, but I find that I am never too old to need my father. Even if it is for a simple chat in the music room around the piano.” she wondering how he could go on living for so many years without his mate or another one to keep him happy.
The continuation of the story only got her to smile more as she realized that she herself had done the same today when she stumbled upon her father. “I really do take a lot after her, given how I found you today and asked the same question. Might have been in different words but my curiously for the sad tune brought me here and I will insist on something much more, cheerful as well.” she added sighing as she thought about her mother more. It was nice to know that she had some of her to remember her by, even if it was through herself. “When did you know you were falling for her?” she asked curiously wondering if there was a moment when they first met or if it happened later on.
Nodding her head when her father mentioned he too missed moments like these Nix sighed and tightened her arm around his for a moment. “I am going to try and visit you more often, so don’t be surprised if I come around unexpected.” she added not sure if she was going to drag her mates with her or simply go without them. She knew that both males weren’t too fond of having to play nice around her father. Granted she thought Drake was slowly beginning to get used to it even trying to bond with the man in some form.
Thinking about how happy her father seemed talking about her mother made her wonder if he ever considered finding another mate perhaps. She knew it was hard and thinking about it wasn’t the best of ideas given her situation, but if it made him happy. “Father, I know you loved mother dearly, but have you ever thought about perhaps finding yourself another mate. I mean I’d hate to see you suffering in grief your whole life, and I know that no one could replace her…” she questioned half trailing off as the young woman waited to see her fathers reaction to this.

Laughter was truly the best medicine, especially for the melancholy lord. Lately he had been reflecting upon the life that once was his, the life where Anne was still in his arms each night as he slept and there when he awoke.
This was no more but life carried on. There was reconnection with his daughter, restoring bridges that had worn out over time. This was moment in time for them and them alone, even if someone entered the room now and it would not matter. Arawn was now lost in a world of his. He had fallen down the rabbit hole with his own Alice, his little Nix by his side.
Oh he had not never laughed so hard, actually he could not remember when he last had since Anne's departure from his side. Yes he had never been fond of the idea of having not one but two son in laws but this was his reality. Anne would have approved of the pair since they made their little girl happy. It was time to offer an olive branch and move on together.
The first impressions of Drake and Gabriel had not been the best to say the least. They had come off as rough around the edges, harsh speaking young men, not the kind of mates he wished for his Nix. His brother wolf had actually snapped nastily at the pair in his mind, wanting nothing more than to chase them off his estate and away from their pup. Arawn was too refined to do such a thing, he welcomed them into his home with a cautious eye upon each one.
Her words warmed his almost ice cold heart, to know that she still needed her silly old father was a blessing in disguise. "I am glad to hear that Nix, I still need my independent daughter in my life" He said, smiling widely at her. His fingers had stilled, no longer playing any kind of tune. This was time for quiet conversation, the music would be seen as an escape and this was not what he needed.
This was true, Phoenix took after her mother than Arawn, in both looks and personality. The way she held herself, her fiery and short temper but that smile that could calm even his wolf in a second. "I have been told that even the oldest lycan have mistaken you for her at distance" He honestly told her, there were times Arawn had mistaken his daughter for his wife but his nose always put him right.
His pup ever curious but he would answer her question. "It took me a few years before I knew. My wolf enjoyed her company so much that it pined for her when she was out of sight. Anne made the first move, telling me that she was tired of waiting" Oh his Anne was not a patient woman when she wanted something.
Anne the ever impulsive but he welcomed it wholeheartedly. Arawn was always thankful to her for this, it opened his eyes to many new things and changed the way he viewed the world.
"I would like that Nix, I promise to visit you often when I am attending court" Arawn would never break a promise made to his offspring, it was binding in every sense of the word. This meant that there was a chance her mates who follow, he would have to play nice with the twins. Now that was going to hard for the Lord but he would do it for his daughter.
It was not that the thought of finding another mate had crossed his mind, oh it had but each time it was shot down. "I know you are thinking of my happiness but I don't think there will be another in my life" Unless his brother wolf reacted to another, it was likely Arawn Frost would be alone until the end of his days. The true mate was a rare find but Arawn pushed that thought aside, it was irrational.
