The need to run free in the woods was far too tempting to Rachel. She wanted to let loose, allow her wolf to take over and enjoy the forest for it’s natural beauty. For the longest time, she had resisted the call of her sister wolf’s desire to just run. Mostly because she feared if she left for any amount of time her mate would need her or her daughters would cause trouble. So she had held back, ignored the distress her wolf was in to keep watch over her family around the castle. It didn’t help she was on the hunt for any way to kick Lady Adrienne clear out of the castle her gold digging butt didn’t deserve to be in.
Breathing sharply through her nose, Rachel walked down the hallways a goal set in her mind. The high heels of her knee high boots clacked on the tiles while she worked her way closer to the nearest exit of the castle. She needed this, wanted it. Rubbing a hand through her blonde hair in order to release it from the confides of her loose braid, the tight black corset dress was starting to feel like a torture device then cloth around her body. As she stormed down the hallway, her knitted tan coat billowed behind her like a train of a wedding dress.
Finding herself on the edge of the forest, Rachel had to stop and breath in deeply trying to calm her heart down. Inside her mind, her sister wolf was begging to be let off the leash shackled on it because she didn’t want to loss control. It kept whispering how nothing bad was going to happen, it would be on it’s best behavior. No matter the promises it spoke up, Rachel knew her wolf would attack the first thing that ended up in her path. She had waited far too long to shift into her other form, doing so without Richard or someone she trusted nearby could end with blood consequences.
Slowly pulling off her jacket, she dropped it on the ground, not caring if it got dirty or not. The coolish air helped her over heated skin, but it didn’t prevent her sister wolf from crawling under her skin whispering sweet words of promise. Panting heavily, Rachel’s eyes seemed to glow a metallic blue while staring off into the dense forest with want.

Elina raced through the woods, a black blur bounding over fallen trees and logs. Whizzing around rocks and stumps. She needed this. It was the closest thing to venting her sexual frustrations. Why would Elina have sexual frustrations? She doesn't have anyone to get her sexually frustrated, right? Wrong! She had one Prince Henry David Niall to thank for that. Ever since their encounter in the music hall Elina had been on edge. She blamed it completely on Henry too! The man the personification of sex and he was gorgeous, but he was such a pig. She hated how much she wanted him. How much she wanted to know what it was like to share a bed with him. It was frustrating and upsetting. She didn't want to be attracted to that... that man .
The black wolf slowed as she neared the place where she left her clothes when she changed. She was feeling a little better now, but not by much. She had a feeling she was going to be absolutely miserable when it came to Henry. She stopped at a shrub, amber pools looking around for a moment to make sure she was safe before she began the change. It happened so quickly hat she hardly ever felt the pain. That was the one thing about the change she disliked. The pain of shifting bones and muscles. It had taken her a good long time to learn to ignore the pain, but she loved it. Running through the woods or on the beach in her wolf form. It was so enjoyable.
She was putting on her earrings whens he came upon Rachel. She stopped for a moment, surprised to see her out and about. Elina didn't usually see the Duchess unless they were in court. Elina had only seen Rachel outside of court gatherings a handful of times as a matter of fact. "M'lady. What brings you out to the woods so late?" She asked as she slowly approached Rachel, noting the fallen coat on the ground.

Growling under her breath, Rachel took a moment to herself in order to calm her sister wolf down. Under her skin, she could feel her animal side trying to break free after being trapped under the human skin for so long. The sweet scent of the forest was beckoning her inner wolf to break free and just have fun. The new moon over head didn’t grant her the light she normally liked when about to embark on a long run but beggars couldn’t be choosers.
The wind brought with it a new scent that Rachel hadn’t had the pleasure of smelling in a good while. Baroness Elina and she only saw each other most often in court but only to pass on a small conversation here and there. That didn’t mean she didn’t keep a good ear open to learn as much as she could about the female lycan. In truth, she knew something that only close family to the King did about Elina’s future and couldn’t but be a little happy for what was about to happen in the next few weeks. But that thought was for a later date. Watching the woman appear out from the woods, Rachel saw her putting on the earrings making her wonder if the Lady had just finished up a run. Taking a deep breath, the wind told her the other woman hadn’t been involved with a male in the woods so she must have been taking a nightly run.
“Baroness.” Offering her a sweet smile, Rachel resisted the urge to bow knowing she didn’t have to and there was no need to. “I was trying to calm myself down before I go for a run.” Licking her lips, Rachel’s pulse was pounding frantically under her neck while shoving her wolf back into the tight little mental cage she kept it in. If she didn’t control her wolf then, there was no telling the damage she might cause without meaning to. Richard wasn’t around this time to keep her wolf from attacking any unsuspecting humans whom might have ventured too far into the woods.

Elina smiled back, feeling much more congenial towards the Duchess. Elina always felt like she didn't have to be fake with Rachel like she did with many of the other women. That was one thing about the court she hated with all her might. She hated being so fake. And not just to women. She had to be fake with a lot of men too. Especially when it was a man her father wanted to match her up with. She acted as politely as possible, but she despised being fake with those men. Especially the ones she found no interest at all.
Her head nodded as she approached Rachel. "I'm afraid it's not much of a run without the light of Lady Luna." She said lightly. It was true enough. She wasn't much for running during a new moon. She liked running under the light of the moon. Streaking through patches of it in the night. She looked to the woods thoughtfully before looking back to Rachel. She needed the run though. She could understand that need to race through the woods or down the beach. She needed it badly this time. She had no real ways to vent her frustrations at the moment, so running helped tremendously.
Chocolate pools studied the Duchess thoughtfully. She wanted to run. The inner wolf was practically chomping at the bit to run. Perhaps Elina should have just gone around and let Rachel have her peace. "I'm sorry for disturbing you, M'lady." She said lightly as she pulled on the hem of her shirt to straighten it out a little. "I'll just... leave you to your run." She said calmly as she stood there, really waiting to be dismissed. She was above Elina as Duchess. It would be rude to leave Rachel if she did not confirm it.

Having a nose for scents, especially that of people lying to her, Rachel always knew those members of court who were genuine with her and those that wanted to stab her in the back. A lesson her mother had never taught her, if anything the noble she-wolf had explained to the young duchess that little games played in court were just that, games for children. A pass time that she needed to know how to play but never take part in unless provoked. So, she knew for a good fact Elina had never been anything but honest and sweet towards her, which was the smart move on any courtesan’s part if they wanted to survive the court. Rachel wasn’t the person you wanted to mess around with.
The gentle breeze pulled at Rachel’s hair while she stared up at the starry sky in pure awe at its beauty. It was a moonless night, but there was no lack of natural wonder still to be held in nature. “Sometimes, Baroness, you just have to run even without Luna to guide you because your wolf can’t handle staying human any longer.” Those words probably showed the cracks in her control that normally seemed flawless in court whenever her mate or father in law were watching, even when she was interacting with other nobles Rachel always kept a level head. Breathing in, she took in the faint scent of Elina on the wind, but she brushed that aside to key her nose in on the wood, the crispy grass under her feet, and the damp leaves where the dew were slowly collecting. Thinking about those helped easy the mind of her sister wolf, but it still clawed under her skin pleading for a release. However, there would be no release until she was certain no one in the area would be in danger of her wolf’s need for a long hard run.
“Elina, you haven’t found a mate yet, how come?” Calling out to her, Rachel knew the woman was trying to leave her along to give her privacy to run, but her mind was buzzing with questions. The only reason Lady Elina had left, at least she thought so, was because the Duchess out ranked her and to be rude to her was to be rude to the King himself. It took a large chunk out of her self control to put the brakes on her wolf, to force it back in to it’s metal cage for a few minutes. The question might have seemed very personal, but a long time ago Rachel had learned that if a person wasn’t frank they never got very far in life.

Her head bobbed softly before she looked up to the sparkling stars among the sky. Rachel had a very good point there. Luna was a great guide, but you could not always rely solely on her. You had to know how to navigate the dark, moonless nights. Otherwise you would be lost and vulnerable. Elina being the strong willed woman she is, was not one for feeling vulnerable. Or lost for that matter. She was one of the best hunters among court. It simply would not do for her to be the vulnerable lost type.
That's what frustrated her so about Henry. That's exactly how she felt. He made her feel like a lost pup on a moonless night with no scents to follow to find her way home. She despised that feeling. It scared her. Henry scared her deep down. Damn the man for making her feel such a way! It was frustrating. He was frustrating. If she went to sleep with thoughts of him on her mind then she had dreams she would rather not have of him. If he was on her mind when she was playing music she would fall into some sort of romantic lull on the piano. If she was out in the gardens tending flowers and plants and he came to mind a goofy smile would spread acrooss her lips. All evidence of just how she felt about the man. And those were feelings she would rather not have.
She tensed, scowling a little at that question a little. Why did people have to ask that? A woman didn't have to find a mate if she didn't want to, did she? That was one thing about Court she definitely hated. The need for women to be mated. It was quite a nusance. Especially when you had a father like hers. One who saw her as nothing more than a pawn. "You almost sound like my father when you ask that, M'lady." She said calmly, chocolate pools studying Rachel for a moment. "I have not found a man worth my times. Nor have I found any that interest me." She spoke casually, wondering what Rachel was asking about Elina's marital status for. It wasn't every day the King's daughter in law ask someone about their current marital status.

There was no one who loved the Luna and nature as much as Rachel, well maybe her babies since they loved to tag alone on all her walks through the gardens. She loved how the moon could make anything at night beautiful even those dark places in the woods where even she tended to be a little frightened without her mate by her side. Oh yes, she knew fear, she simply knew how to hide it very well so the courts thought she was complete fearless. Her heart was connected to the moon, she loved watching her move across the sky in her glory lighting a path for lycans and humans. Richard and her could spend whole nights on the palace roof watching the moon while they huddled together under a blanket either telling stories or just basking in the moonlight.
“I’m going to chose to ignore that comment, Baroness, because my wolf is in the mood for a fight and I really didn’t plan on going back to my mate bloody.” Rachel could only guess how the question might have sounded to Elina. As much as women were frowned up for being dependent on a male, the sad fact was in court an unmated female was considered a threat to those who had a mate and didn’t want them chasing skirts. “I will say this, I can see where your father is coming from. I have my own girls to look after and before I pass on I’d rather see them settled down with a family of their own so they won’t be left alone.” Reaching down, she kicked off her boots next to the fallen jacket without a care; she’d collect them at a later time, maybe right after the run. Giving Elina a once over, she held back a smirk very sure of what she had suggested to her father in law.
Elina would be in for a very rude surprise, but it had to be done for Henry’s sake. In truth, it might have been like she was pawning the lady off on the prince, but Rachel had to follow her gut instinct on this matter. There was something about the way Henry looked at Lady Elina that was so unlike any other woman in court. He tried to hide it by sleeping with every other woman who spread her legs, however after all the years Rachel had grown up watching both Richard and Henry she had a good idea of the way his mind worked. It wasn’t a perfect idea, there were a few holes in her logic that might never be hammered out and she was going to have to live with it.
“Maybe you weren’t really looking because your father put you off men.” For a long time, Rachel had wanted to strangle her parents were going along with some arranged marriage by decree of the King. Who did that stiff neck old man think he was ordering her to get hitched to his youngest son like she was some toy to hand over to a child? It took a lot of thinking, a lot of chocolate, and a hell lot of talking to Richard for her to come to terms with being thrown together with him.

She smirked faintly. She had only been teasing of course, but it was true. That sort of question would be one her father would ask. He had been trying to find her a mate since the day she turned eighteen. And she had easily turned down over a hundred suitors, possibly more, so far. She was not interested in the men her father chose. They were not the type of man Elina wanted anything to do with.
She gave Rachel an unsure expression. "That may be, Duchess, but you would at least take the time and care to find your daughters a mate that is suitable in compatibility as well as their ability to take care of them. My father does not put any of that into consideration. All he cares about is money. The richer the man is the better for me or Helen he is." She spoke calmly, thinking of her sister. Her sister, who was a bit young still and naive. All George would have to do was find a charming, romantic man and that was it. Helen would be his. That worried Elina a little. She wanted Helena to have a good husband who would love her and take care of her. George would pawn her off the first chance he got.
Elina scowled a little at Rachel's suggestion. Of course that was why Elina had no interest in men. At least not any that her father sent her courting to. George Cali was the worst match maker on the face of the planet. He threw some of the worst matches at Elina and he seemed to never get the hint. All he cared about was who had the most money. He didn't base any of his matches off of compatibility. "Yes well... perhaps if he chose men I actually enjoyed accompanying I would have a mate by now." She glanced to Rachel, looking to her bare feet for a moment as she combed a hand through her hair, finding a twig or leave and flicking it out of her hair. She knew some of the concern about unmated women was that they would go welcoming married men to their beds. That wasn't Elina though. Everyone knew George Cali had several mistresses. And there were times when he would sit there and flaunt one through their suite in front of her mother's eyes.
The nerve of him! And the nerve of his blond bimbo bouncing around with her fake breasts. And his latest mistress was indeed fake. Elina didn't know if it was George or someone else who paid for her boob job, but it was obvious how fake they were. Althea never said anything, but Elina could tell it hurt to watch George's parade of women. He did nothing to hide his affairs, and that was what angered Elina the most. She hated her father for what he did to Althea. At least he had the common courtesy to stay in England most of the year.
