Where to start on the looks of the Duke of Elysian. What do people see as he changes from mortal man to fur coated beast. To start we shall begin with the beast in its full aspect. Falling to all four legs is a natural thing to a Lycan, the abilities of both man and animal raging within ones heart. His dark hair coating his skin in a thick coat of Fur the color of midnight. His fangs glisten white as his lips pull back to reveal their razor edge and his heavy paws break upon Loam beneath his paws. His eyes are a blue, identical to that of his human form, a light color that in all honesty looks to be almost gray in hue. His lines are sleek and defined much as he is in his other forms though it is of note by the grace in his movements that he doesn’t utilize brute force as others tend to. Instead his power is in the Grace and Speed of his movement. The way he moves like a whisper in the wind as he runs. Steel cable rippling under his coat to prove his point as he runs. His form oddly large, and not one that a being would think of for one as fast as he tends to prove to be.

It is only in his other form that it can be noticed how truly alike he is to his father. His body swelling well beyond its human norm to nearly 9 feet in height... While shorter than his father, he is still large in comparison to others within the pack. In this form his hands, have claws and his fangs are still noticeably sharp beneath his lips. His muzzle open and his shaggy black fur coating his form. His eyes shining blue in the light of a moon hanging above matching always the color that he always carries...

Personality:

So much can be say of the Lycan Richard Niall, How much of this is true and how much is nothing more than lies. Honestly it is difficult to see where the truth starts and the lies end, such is the life of a center of power. Being a Duke the second highest ranking Wolf in the court has put himself and his family in the spotlight of the power hungry crowd that flocks to the banquets that drag him from his place at his families side. For in all honesty he knows the meaning of duty and it is not to the power that people seek in this home that he had made. He works, not for himself but his people. But what matters most to this man is the one he leaves at home early in the morning and returns to late at night.

All this is just a little of what he is, Words cast about rumors talked of about the man that is Richard. It is said that his life revolves around nothing but his work, that his family doesn’t matter to him though its more that his infuriating brother chooses to ignore his own work forcing it onto the already over worked and stressed out Duke that spend ever more time working in so much less with the love of his life. Some piece of him would much prefer to avoid the life of a Duke and find some house away from everything to raise his daughters in the peace and quiet of a place away from the bustle of the capital. Of course, he honestly would much prefer to lock his daughters in their room to keep them safe if he could get away with it, though unfortunately he seems to find them and their mother to free spirited to ever keep them from doing things they want to.

How as he as a Duke you ask, strong and sure seems to sum him up as the kings second holding more power than his brother... of whom he speaks not of at all and detests to the point that he notices him as he would a speck of dirt upon his shoes, for the simple fact that he shirks the responsibilities of his title and his position as the elder son of the King. Honestly it is no small wonder that Richard is closer to their father than Henry is. However, all this power and responsibility is borne by one that works for its own Merit and to prove that he is worthy of the title and responsibility therein. Does he think he is a Prince, no he hardly considers himself to be anything more than a commoner, however with his title he has to act as if he is above it and act he does. In the end the best way to describe Richard is a Loving, Protective Father, A Dutiful Son, and a Quiet, soft spoken and hard working man.

• Due to his position, he holds on to the chaos of court by being smarter than the rest and using the knowledge he collects in ways that few can expect him to
  
• Hardheaded... Richard doesn'g understand what it means to give up and often find himself dragged home from his work
  
• Sharpened Hearing... In the course of his life he has always had above average hearing but over time he also trained his hearing to listen for specific things and as such he is an uncanny ability to listen in to conversations that others might not think he is capable of... though he tends to not let on that he hears all that he does.

History:

1933, A year with many changes trickling through the pages of many a history book to come upon the future. Adolf Hitler begins to take control over Germany. The Great Depression continues with its grip upon the united states. On the Isle de Los Lobos, something else was happening, On May 21 of that year a young man was born. The second son of King Vaan Niall. It was not a time that Richard would never remember as he began to age and grow into his future role.

In his early years he didn’t get to do much on account for his youth and inability though as he grew older he gained the ability to do more. At 6 he learned to take his full wolven form and from then it was difficult to get him to focus on his studies... though in the end he did take to his studies. It just wasn't until later that he did just that. In fact it was July 21, 1946... that changed his thoughts and actions. Sure he was only 13 but it was also on this day that he met his betrothed for the first time. Sure she was to young to even remember that day but his father had taken him to the hospital and there he explained who the young pup was.

Having some idea of where his future was to be forced to, Richard decided to make that path his own. In the end with the influence of both his father and mother and the glances he managed to sneak of young Rachel, he forged himself a future through knowledge. He focused on the history of their people and the laws they were to follow. In so doing though he found things within the laws that he could never agree with. Things that would in the future prove to be a thing he would strive to undo.

At 18, he changed for the first time to his hybrid form and in so doing became an adult. Of course it was not long after that he was named Duke of Elysian by his father. So began his future and his career. Time whispered past as he focused on his task... only to be derailed in 1953 by the murder of his mother. When the news came to him he hardly knew what to do with himself. His reaction was to throw himself to his work even taking on the growing mounds of his lazy brother to keep him from thinking on his mother.

In all honestly it stayed this way until after Rachel became an adult, of course not everything was to be as easy as one would think. Partly due to Richard not wanting to marry anyone that he didn’t actually care for deeply. As such he kept pushing back plans for a wedding, but not only that but he could hardly find the time for a personal life. In the end his father stepped in forcing him to meet with Rachel. It was much like his first meeting with her so many years before. Something about her demeanor shattered him.

From that point on all he could think of was her, if asked he would tell a person that it was love at first site though he wasn’t so sure about how it was for her. At one point in their relationship, Richard witnessed his older brother with his sister. Of course having the hearing of a werewolf and having trained his to be sharper than most he listened to the words spoken by his elder brother, and the rebuff of his love. Though his brother hardly seemed to be the type to give up so easily when their was someone he wished in his bed. Of course his brother knew what his father expected of both Rachel and Richard and the fact that Henry simply didn’t care annoyed Richard to the point of threatening Henry with violence if he ever came into contact with Rachel again.

It was June 17, 1986 that He and Rachel in the end finally became mates. It seemed as if it had been a long time in the making but he felt that life was how it was meant to be though he also wished his mother could have been their to see him on that day. From this point, life was a whirlwind of chaos and work. In 1976 their first daughter blessed their lives and 3 years later their second joined her. Since life has not even come close to settling down as life in the court has only become more troublesome than ever and Richard found himself with more work than he could handle to the point that at times he finds himself falling asleep at his desk or being collected by his wife.
