Nate felt his wolf stirring at the commotion, he wasn't one to handle hostilites well and with Nate's own excitment he was curious. Nate hushed his wolf, he couldn't let him take voer he had a job to do; one that he would dojust fine at without the his wolf's help now.
He heard the defeat in the lords voice and he frowned slightly. He didn't like that Lord Frost was so upset over Nate being his guard. It probably wasn't personal in the slightest but Nate's newly hieghtened prie took a bit of a hit and showed slightly in his eyes though he shook it away quickly. Whether or not it was personaly didn't matter he was his lord's personal guard now and only his safety mattered, though Nate did care about his lord's mental health as well. He wasn't such a cold hearted guy that he could easily deal with someone being upset.
When Lord Frost lead the Captain to her room and them him to his he was amazed. The rooms were so extravagant he would've been happy with a room that barely had enough room for a twin sized bed. Besides he didn't plan to sleep too much just enough to be rested and mentally agile enough to protect his lord, so comfort wasn't a big concern. This is beyond what I require My Lord. You should save this room for your guest not your guard." He smiled but he knew he was going to lose this battle. Whether Nate liked it or not he knew he was going to be calling this room home and after a while he sighed and set his bag of things down int he room then stood waiting on Lord Frost.
Nate didn't plan to leave his Lord's side tonight, the Captain had said he was on duty and he needed to start getting familiar with his Lord's habits."If you don't mind my Lord I plan to shadow you for the rest of the night learning your home and habits so I can better protect you." He bowed respectfully after all he was going to be a bit intrusive tonight at least till he knew the area better and knew how far back he could stay while still being of use to his lord.

"Dawn, you are free to speak your mind" He answered, trying to change the topic. Vaan respected Dawn above many others, her opinion mattered to him. Lord Frost had been more reckless than any other member of the five houses. His actions were becoming unpredictable and this was something Vaan as King would not let continue any longer.
Wolves did indeed mate for life, this would explain the reason behind Arawn's current path. He was still grieving, he was still deeply in pain about the lose of his mate Anne Blackheart. It was line that had been crossed that no-one had thought possible. Lady Anne was loved by many and hated by none, her death did not add up in the slightest. No-one had ever been fought guilty for the crime but one day someone would.
He feared Arawn would lose all common sense the moment that someone was arrested. This was another reason for appointing a personal guard, to protect Lord Frost from himself.
His brother wolf still howled with such sorrow when his former mate crossed his mind late at night, when he truly was alone. His heart ached but was still healing from her betrayal. Vaan had loved again, this was proof that lycan could take another mate. There was hope for Lord Arawn but only if the man opened his heart and let someone in.
"Of course Dawn but time do you plan to leave Lord Frost's estate?" He asked curious at her answer, it would change his entire day. Vaan's life seemed to depend on his captain, he was becoming soft and this was not a good sign. He would have to find someway of putting some space between himself and the woman he was slowly developing feelings for.
His own walls were crumbling down, Dawn's anger had such an effect on his brother wolf, driving both of them wild with excitement and desire. "Yes I did Dawn, I felt it was the right thing to do" he clearly stated to his guard. Trying to support his argument about the his need to apologize for all this.
"Can't I be sweet sometimes" He argued back, a smile creeping across his lips. Vaan was actually flirting with Dawn! This was not good, his control was slowly slipping.
Vaan's mouth hung open, had he heard what he thought he had heard? His brother wolf was now panting in his ears, wanting nothing more than to ravish Dawn but sadly that would have to wait until she returned. Vaan would prevent this, his wolf would not let this occur but the heat was rising turning his cheeks bright red.
"Dawn? Are you alright?" This was difficult for Vaan to ask, he was nervously stuttering after listening to such pleasurable sighs. What was his captain doing? He could not help but wonder.

Arawn was feeling tense, biting down upon his lower lip to keep his silver tongue inside his mouth. This way he would not say something insulting, upsetting either Dawn or Nathaniel. This was not time nor place to start an argument especially with someone so volatile like Captain Roseburn. She was a firecracker but could argue with the best of them. Leading both of them in the direction of the guest wing, first stop was the captain’s room and once she closed the door, it was time to his new personal guard’s turn to be unloaded until dinner.
A few doors down was the other room he had chosen for just in case, the envoy aka ‘Captain Frostbite’ brought someone with him. He was always prepared for situations like this one, much like when the King had decided to visit his estate suddenly one day. It wasn’t that Arawn was cold hearted even though his last name suggested it. It was just that he could never trust another guard, not after what had happened to his beloved wife Anne.
That fateful night, she had gone on a hunt with a guard for her but he had returned without a single scratch but she never returned. For that night on he refused every guard pushed in his direction, they failed his family once. Still there was something about this Nathaniel, something that stirred his brother wolf up and out of it’s slumber. This was something he would have to think on but still whatever this was it gave him another reason to avoid him.
Lord Arawn Frost did not need another distraction in this life, it could only lead to terrible consequences like love and that was something he was certain would never happen again. Lightning might strike twice but Lord Frost. Now this was getting difficult, he was trying to politely refuse the room he had chosen “Nathaniel, this room is now your room I insist” It was the only thing he could think of, to try and end this conversation. Being this close to the man was hard enough, his scent casually filling his senses causing his wolf to become increasingly more aggressive yet playful at the same time.
Before he even had the chance to announce his leaving, Nathaniel spoke. This was not good, not good in the slightly. The man played to shadow him tonight, not get settled but follow. “That is not necessary Nathaniel but I believe I will not be able to change your mind” He said defeated by this strong willed young lycan. “If you must…” He trailed off, turning on his heel heading back down the corridor.

Free to speak her mind? Vaan didn’t need nor want to know what she really thought about when she was either daydreaming or sleeping. The King didn’t need to know she had a stupid puppy crush on him and had to fight with her wolf to stay cold and emotionless every time he did something that touched her heart. “I…” She sighed and shook her head. “I think that Lord Frost needs a personal guard. It was a long time coming.” For the safety of her heart and her sanity, no one was to know her true feelings for Vaan. Life was complicated enough watching over his family and the nobles. Besides, what did she knew about a steady relationship? She’d dated but nothing serious. For that matter, she was a commoner, no amount of love for the King would change that detail.
Rolling her shoulders back, Dawn allowed her body to relax for the first time in weeks. “As soon as the sun rises, I’ll be on my way back.” Shutting her eyes, she savored the sound of the water slashing into the tub continuing to fill it up. Taking a deep breath in, her nose was rewarded with that clean citrus scent almost making her moan again. For a moment, she wondered why Vaan would care what time she left but once that thought crossed her mind the Captain was ready to hit herself in the head. Of course the King wanted to know what time his Captain would be back, she was normally always shadowing him around the palace unless he was in his private chambers. There was no personal reason he wanted to know the time unless it was so he could schedule his plans for tomorrow around the arrival of her.
“Stop being nice to me, Your Highness. I’m but a commoner who got lucky in a fight to be Captain. I’m not a lady of the court.” There was no hiding the sadness in Dawn’s voice as she allowed Vaan a glimpse into her mind through those couple of sentences. “If you’re sweet to me Vaan, I fear you might see a side of me no one has seen in years.” A smile of her own curled around Dawn’s lips while cradling the phone to her ear. The male’s charm was just contagious and she had to respond back to it with her own bit of flirting.
What was wrong with Vaan’s voice? Had he just stuttered? Dawn was about to ask him what was wrong before she decided just to answer his question first. “I’m enjoying one of the best bubble baths I’ve ever had the pleasure to sit in.” As a stream of water hit her lower back another moan passed from her lips. Right then, her wolf and she were so far in heaven that Dawn no longer cared how she might sound to Vaan right then. Her toes curled under the water before she reached over to shut off the faucet from filling up the tub more but she kept the jets on.

Nate couldn't help but smile when his Lord agreed to let him follow. Both he and his wolf were glad to be able to follow after his lord though Nate's wolf was excited for a reason other than wanting to protect though Nate was oblivious to it. Nate planned to shadow his lord and learn to protect him while his wolf seemed to want to follow and simply learn about the lord. As Nate followed his lord he found himself drawing in deeper breaths laden with his lord's scent. After a few Nate sneezed and shook his head his scenses a bit overload. He frowned and focused on taking shollower breaths though his wolf didn't agree with it. Nate shoved his wolf down he didn't have time to be distracted with the wants of his wolf. He was protecting his lord and his wolf shouldrealize they had more important things to do.
The house was big and as they passed halls Nate mentally marked them to go back and investigate them later when Lord Frost was sleeping. Even though Nate was on duty and trying to mentally catalog and memorize the lay out of the house it's beauty wasn't lost on him. There were all kinds of expensive things around that while they looked nice Nate could never imagine having any of it in his house. Nate's own home was sparse and looked barely used mainly because it was. He only ever stayed there when he wasn't on duty and even then he was out doing other things with his limited free time. He wasn't a guy who hung around and empty house. When he'd lived with his family hanging around the house had been the only place he felt even the tiniest inkling of fitting in. Now on the island where ever Nate went he didn't feel out of place and it was a great feeling. He even had real friendships with some of the other guards and most everyone liked him.
Even though he'd become estranged from his family it had been worth it. He was doing something that gave him purpose and he was in a place that felt like a home. His eyes landed on his lord's back. Nothing would stop him from doing everything he could to protect his lord, failing would mean the lord's death and Nate didn't want any of the nobility hurt, espectally his lord. Whether his lord liked it or not, and Nate was sure it was or not, he was here to protect Lord Frost and he would die before he let anyone get to his lord. Nate could feel his wolf bristle at the thought of someone getting to Lord Frost and he smiled glad him and his wolf were finally getting on the same page.
Nate quickened his steps when he noticed the distance that had suddenly been made between him and his lord. He caught up his boots making a slight bit of noise as he got into step just behind Lord Frost. Nate chastised himself for breaking his focus for a moment. That was all anyone needed to get to his lord just that split second of him not on his guard and Lord Frost could be hurt or killed. Nate scowled but kept focused not letting his error cause him to be even more distracted.

This conversation was necessary in the King's mind. Lord Frost was a constant thorn in his side. Maybe this would change the Lord's demeanor to a more positive outlook on life. There was always a light at the end of the tunnel in his opinion but he would have to be patient.
"You are right Dawn but this will need to be handled with caution" He once again warned his own personal guard. Most never saw the real man behind the mask but Nathaniel might be the one to drew the real Arawn out once more. The only other person who had only sway over the private lord was his offspring but she was too stubborn to approach just yet.
"I will speak to Lady Phoenix in the morning and inform of the situation" It had to be done, he could not keep the woman in the dark for long if it involved her father in any shape or form. The king did not want to her to hear about this through the grape vine but gossip traveled fast.
His brother wolf perked up, soon she would be back. This caused excitement to surge through him but fightning and pushing it back. He did not want it to be obvious that the very news of her return excited the king. This could be easily taken the wrong way. Vaan did not want his true feelings to be known. Commoners and Royals could not be together, not truly.
To take her as his mistress was something he would never ever dream of doing. The very thought of degrading the woman who meant so much to him, opened his eyes to the truth and how lonely he really was.
"Let me indulge in this for once" He pleaded, his voice deepening. Oh what this woman did to him! Only if she knew that her voice caused the blood to stir within his loins. He felt lucky to see a side of his captain that no other but her sister and brother in law saw, a softer and caring side. She was something special to behold but never could be his.
She should not have said that, his mind wandered imagining her naked form which he had never seen lowering in a bath. Water drops caressing her flesh as it moved lower and lower. A blush spread across his cheeks at these perverted thoughts.
Silence, there was nothing but silence as Vaan thought of her naked. His grip on the phone loosen, nearly causing the phone to slip out and fall to the floor. For a moment he such stood there thinking of Dawn Roseburn and only her.

Everything was spiraling out of control, a stranger in his home who would be following him night and day, that was going to ruin his solitude. This was going to be a long, long day. Arawn would have no choice but to try and lose the man in the maze that was his home.
He knew every winding corridor, what lurked behind every door. This was his territory and the newcomer had no chance. Nathaniel would not survive the week if he had it his way. Arawn did not need nor want a guard, the man would be begging to return to the palace soon enough. His brother wolf growled angrily, hating this plan it was wrong. Why not try to get along with the man for now.
Lord Frost would not let the man in, not let him get closer or past his mask. He was just like the other guards useless. The only one who could be trust was the captain. The guard were the reason his wife was gone, buried six feet under.
His wolf tried to comfort the lord but Arawn was having none of it as he started his routine. Everything had been planned, every details and moment of the day. Arawn Frost was a stickler for detail and careful planning. No wonder he was the one in charge of the entertainment that occurred at the palace. He was the King's entertainment manager.
The kitchen was where he was heading, located on the ground floor of his manor. Overlooking one of the more beautiful gardens, orchids and tiger lilies planted under willow trees which seemed to dance in the wind as the wind caressed it's branches.
Servants rushes busily with trays of various shapes and sizes, getting everything ready for the big meal, which would be plated up and served later in the evening. One of the Sculley maids noticed their entrance. Bowing to the master of the house and his rather handsome guest, the lord rarely had guests.
The home had once been full of life, he could picture his darling daughter rushing through the hallways like a rocket never stopping for anyone. Oh those were the days but alas that was no more.
"Marie, this is Nathaniel my new personal guard" He said, addressing the kitchen maid. His eyes for a moment flashed golden, showing that his wolf was ever present. It was right thing to do, introduce the new boy to his personal staff. Each and every one of them needed to know who he was and why he was here.
Marie quickly curtsied, smiling at the handsome man standing next to her scowling lord. "Nice to meet you" was all she said before turning her attention back to Arawn. " Everything is on schedule Mi'lord" This was true, the starters were finished, the main in the oven and dessert was being started. Bottles of Alcohol stood in a row on the nearby table ready to be poured into the trifle mix.
Ah such good news on such a bad day.

Swirling a finger in the water, Dawn relaxed her body in the warm water letting the scent of citrus penetrate deep down into her stressed out mind. As much as she wanted to hang up the phone on Vaan to let him sort through Lord Frost’s need of a guard on his own, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Her wolf needed to hear his voice even if it was for them to discuss business. It was the only thing keeping her from not leaving Lord Frost’s home to head back to the palace that very night. Well, that and her horse really needed to rest up for the night before Dawn pushed her to get back to the palace in the morning.
“Haven’t I always been cautious?” Arching an eyebrow, she thought back and wasn’t completely sure she wanted him to answer that one. She could point a few times she hadn’t been completely smart about some situations and had jumped head long into them. But she supposed with only a few scars on her body to attest to those moments and the fact she wasn’t head, she was doing something correct in this life. Her wolf actually purred at the thought that maybe Vaan was trying to look out for her wellbeing which made Dawn snap a tighter grip on her sister wolf. No reason letting her imagination get out of hand.
“Hopefully she will see the reasoning behind the personal guard and not throw a fit about a stranger being in her father’s home.” Dawn loved Lady Phoenix, had since the girl had grown up with Henry and she had to watch over both of them. The young woman had a fire to her that was delightful to watch when she had her mind set on something, but she had a tendency to be a handful when she was eager to sabotage plans. She was every ounce the Phoenix she was named after and Dawn could not image her as anything but the fiery bird that was reborn from it’s ashes each time it died.
Dawn felt her body slip deeper into the tub when she heard Vaan’s pleading voice, her heart rose up in her throat finding it hard to think of a proper come back. There was no stopping the stupid flip of her stomach trying to imagine what his face would look like if his voice sounded so warm and inviting. “I wouldn’t dream of stopping you.” Did that imply she dreamed about him? She hoped he didn’t catch that or think of it that way. Her heart and wolf were in agreement about their need and desire for Vaan but her mind had to remind them it would never work out.
There was a long silence on his end, making fear instantly rise up in Dawn’s mind. “Vaan?” Her mind instantly went to the worst possible scenario where someone had attacked her king. But she scrubbed that from her mind. There had been no yelling or crashing so why was he so quiet? “Vaan? Do you need me?” She hadn’t meant for that to come out so provocatively but the jets were still massaging her in all the right places right then making it impossible for her normal stern voice to come through.

Nate knew Lord Frost didn't want him to guard him but he was really trying to lose him. Nate was practically running to keep up with the way Lord Frost kept disappearing around every other corner. He had guessed the place was huge it looked it from the outside. Nate hadn't been on a property this big with a house this size since he'd lived back in Montana. Following his lord's scent wasn't getting him anywhere only confusing him. The whole palce smelled of him and while he was a bit annoyed that it made it harder to follow his lord his wolf didn't seem to mind.
He shook his head running to keep up now he had to keep his lord within his sights or he'd get lost. Nate did not want to get lost especially because the captain was here and he didn't want her to think he wasn't up for the job. She'd picked him to do this job and it was an honor he wouldn't fail her or his lord. He followed his lord into the kitchen, he dodged through the rushing servants avoiding a few trays that would've collided with his head. He caught up to his lord when he got to a servant, he looked her over and nodded to her inclining his head to her. "Ma'am" He didn't speak going into full guard mode.
Nate was a good guard he took his job seriously and didn't slack when he was on the job. He watched everyone in the kitchen as his lord spoke taking in who was where. He was a little too focused on all that was happening in front and to the sides of them and didn't notice what was behind him. A servant carrying a tray walked behind him and as Nate turned slightly to get a better view of the room he got nailed in the back of the head with a tray the food spilling over his shoulders and making stars spark in Nate's vision ffrom the impact of the metal tray with his nape.

This was getting increasing awkward for Vaan. Speaking with Dawn had always been easier than most that he spoken to on a daily basis. Tonight however was slightly different, she was away from the palace which was unusual enough for the King. He truly was missing his constant companion, his brother wolf was feeling the same. Howling sadly in the corner of his mind where it resided as a reminder of what he truly was. Vaan might appear more human than most but at the end of the day, he was a feral beast who craved the wind rushing through his pelt as his paw thundered against the forest floor.
By the morning, Dawn would be back within the palace walls. His wolf would no longer be so restless which could easily prevent him from sleeping this evening. If he did not sleep he would look terrible the following day but there was nothing he could do if that occurred. His brother wolf was affecting him physical more so these last few weeks than it had over the last four hundred years. Strange how one person could change his life so suddenly.
“Oh I know you are but with Arawn, you must be extra cautious that man is as slippery as they come” A frown appeared upon his brow as he spoke of Arawn Frost. The man could be compared to an eel in the years after the death of his beloved wife Anne. However this was not something Vaan felt he could explain to his captain, it was left in the hands of the lord. “I trust you completely” He quickly added knowing that it had to be said.
“We can only hope, Lady Phoenix is like her mother. They share the same fiery temperament” He replied, briefly recalling Lady Anne when she lost her temper whilst pregnant with the future lady frost. It wasn’t hard to those who knew the last lady frost to see how similar mother and daughter were at times. She had been a terror when she was merely a pup, her parents never seemed to have a quiet moment when they visited court. It was a memory Vaan cherished, much like his own sons childhoods. “She deeply loves her father and wants to see him happy” However who didn’t want to see the still grieving lord happy once more, he deserved to be happy and loved again. It would make him easier to work with at least.
It was hard not to gulp or question her words. One could easier read into what she was saying, what did she not want him to stop doing to her. Oh the many different visions haunted his mind, each one worse than the one that came before. He was definitely going to need a cold shower after this conversation ended. His clouded eyes darted down wards, oh what Dawn did to him. There was clear a tent between his thighs caused by her words and his imagination.
Oh how he needed her, more so than she would ever know. Vaan had no choice but he moved his legs into more comfortable position to accommodate his problem that had just popped up our of nowhere. “I’m still here Dawn and I do need you” He said, stopping for a moment to gather his thoughts before he carried on with his sentence “to remain alert and to report to me when you return” He was thankful that he had been able to finish that sentence, which had been have relatively difficult for the King to say.

Everything seemed to be going well, yes he was still being followed by that guard Nathaniel. It was something he would have to deal with and hopefully get better at losing him over time. His brother wolf growled angrily the moment this idea crossed his mind. What was up with his wolf? Why was this young man causing just a diversion between man and wolf. Arawn would have to take a trip to the library soon and find an answer to this most curious of questions.
However for now that was not important. He had to make sure that this evening was to run smoothly and to schedule. It was not that he did not notice the way his kitchen maid looked at Nathaniel, it was obvious that she was lusting after him. Nothing of that nature would happen until his roof! His brother wolf wholeheartedly agreed with him. Strange…rarely would his wolf agree with him on anything except if it concerned his pup Phoenix. His mind wandered to his daughter for a moment, he missed the very presence of his daughter, she brought him such comfort and happiness.
It was not that Arawn dislike Nathaniel, he did not know him. It was the idea of having a guard follow him was what he disliked. It was possible than Lord Frost might grow to enjoy the company of his new guard but he would have to wait and see. There was much standing between the newcomer and the lord, most was hidden for good reasons. Lady Anne was one of things preventing Arawn from moving on, accepting changes and causing madness to bloom and take hold.
Her smile quickly dropped, Marie was not happy with Nate’s almost robotic response. Oh but this was to be excepted when trying to flirt with a member of the guard. The most obedient members of the guard were almost impossible to flirt with, especially if they had been trained by Captain Roseburn. She was one hard nosed individual.
The sound of metal hitting the floor, knocked Arawn back to reality. He was torn between Nathaniel and losing his rag with the servant who caused this mess. They had not looked where they were going. A frustrated groan escaped his lips “Marie, please clear this mess up” He instructed, the kitchen maid trying to get her focus back on her job not his new guard. “Nathaniel, are you alright?” He asked, wandering over to the guard’s side.
Resting a hand upon the younger man’s shoulder caused sparks to shot through the lord’s body. It was almost like he was struck with lightning. He was only trying to comfort the man but it was causing more questions than had no answer. Oh what was he to do?

This conversation was lasting longer than any other they’d had over the phone. It normally consisted of her tell him her location, the details of what had happened, and saying good bye. Every now and then he’d give her advice but…flirting? That was a ball park Dawn had no experience with when it came to the King. Oh luna, for her to even be flirting back with him…what had gotten into her? Oh yeah, a sister wolf that was craving the touch of a man she couldn’t truly claim. When she first enrolled as a guard Vaan never affected her like this, it wasn’t until she started getting closer to him as the Captain then as just another lycan to talk to that she realized her wolf had staked her territory where she shouldn’t have.
“Nate will have to be able to handle Arawn. He’s in his care now. Your protection is where my duty lies.” Dawn knew all about Lord Frost, but Nate would need to learn how that male was. There was no way she could simply tell him, it was something he’d have to learn to do. It took a good couple of months for Dawn to be able to keep up with Vaan wherever he went outside of his family’s wing of the palace. Even there she kept close watch, but a much farther distance from the king. Try as hard as she might, the she-wolf always tried to give him as much privacy as possible. “Thank you.” It was barely said above a whisper but she appreciated him saying that he trusted her. Her wolf seemed to pant lightly in her ear as if agreeing to liking that he trusted her.
A flutter rushed down her to land in her stomach hearing Vaan’s words of needing her. For a moment, her brain wasn’t sure how to respond but at the last he spoke up about staying alert which only made her eyes narrow at the wall, her fingers tightening around the cell phone. “Vaan, tell me that you love me already and get it over with. I’m not going to sit around waiting any longer for you.” Dawn had finally snapped, letting her wolf give her the strength to say what she’d been putting off for over a century to say to him. “I’ll see you when I get back tomorrow, Your Highness.” The title she forced herself to say through grinding teeth before shutting the phone and throwing it out the open bath door to land on the bed. There, she had finally said she loved him. Not in those exact words but if she needed to paint a fucking sign for Vaan then there was a real problem. Her wolf whined for Dawn to call him back and tell him properly but she refused. She would have done anything for him to even look at her as more than a friend or a shoulder to lean on; it seemed she was nothing more than the Captain to him. What was new? In her mind, she felt like she’d brought it all on herself. Luna, how was she going to face him tomorrow? Easy, she told herself, with a blank face like nothing had happened. Royalty don’t marry or fall for commoners. Reaching over, she pulled the drain on the tub before grabbing a towel to wrap around her chest tightly.
Not bothering to change into real clothes, Dawn flopped onto the bed still slightly damp on her legs and arms but was too sleepy to notice. Yawning, she curled up on her side after shaking out the hair claw to shut her eyes. The Captain needed all the sleep she could get in order to make it through tomorrow.

Nate was rubbing the back of his neck and blinking repeatedly trying to clear the stars and regather his thoughts since they'd gotten shattered when he'd been hit. He gave his head a shake but froze when he felt his lord place a hand on his shoulder a shiver going down his spine. His wolf was howling happily his tail wagging rapidly from side to side. Nate rubbed his temple and nodded to his lord ignoring his wolf's antics.
He blinked clearing the last of the stars and nodded."Yes my lord." He looked down at his black shirt and frowned. It was covered in...he sniffed french onion soup, his nose wrinkled at the strong smell and he sighed. He needed a shower or at the very least a clean shirt. The smell was just to strong and while he liked french onion soup the smell wasn't something he wanted to be wearing till he could get a shower after his lord went to sleep and he was sure he was safe for the night.
Nate ran a hand through his hair as he looked at Lord Frost."My lord I must leave you for a few moments. My shirt is completely covered in soup. I'll just change my shirt and be right back." Nate was reluctant as he spoke, he knew he shouldn't leave his lord's side especially since he was just assigned to him but he couldn't exactly follow him around smelling like soup.
Besides that from all the preperations and all the food Nate was sure Lord Frost had other guests that would be joining them tonight for dinner. As a guard especially to his lord he couldn't walk around in a soiled shirt it would reflect badly on him and his lord and he couldn't have that. He knew the Captian would understand though he had a feeling he was going to be getting a scolding all the same for leaving his lord's side. More importantly he hoped his lord understood and didn't think badly of him or take the chance to lose him for the rest of the night.

This had gone from bad to worse in a matter of moments. Never before had Vaan openly flirted with his captain, especially over the phone. Usually their conversation were pretty standard, her reporting the basics to him and him telling her she had done a good job, nothing more. Why was this time any different? Vaan could not help but wonder, had his feelings for her finally start to take control. No this was not possible, the King had a tight, tight leash wrapped around his wolf and his emotions. No matter if she crept into his dreams causing him to crave her forbidden touch. How many cold showers had he taken this week alone? Too many to keep track of, oh the affect she had on him, physically, emotionally and mentally. Dawn was changing every part of his life but why did not try to stop her, why did he like it so much? His brother wolf whispered the answer in his mind but Vaan would not listen to just foolish dreams. “I trust your judgment Captain” He was trying to control himself, trying to keep his tone of voice constant and lacking any nervousness. He did not want to sound like a fool to the woman of his dreams no the captain of his guard. This Nathaniel was given a chance to prove himself as both a guard and man by protecting one of the five noble families. The Frosts were high up the chain just under the Vulpes the family his chancellor lead, maintained and prevented from failing into financial ruin which had nearly happened in 1929 when wall street crashed. Every noble family had been affected badly, it ruined many. His own family had suffered but pulled through somehow. Actually he remembered right, it had his former wife’s quick thinking that had saved their skins and money. There had only three kings and one queen who had bankrupted the crown and thankfully he hadn’t joined those ranks. This was one of the few good, happy moments of their life together, acting in unity for the sake of their family. Quickly he pushed all thoughts that involved that blonde devil out of his mind, yes he had loved her but that was many, many years ago. No longer, his heart now belonged to someone out of his reach, his Captain Dawn Roseburn. What happened next, the King was certainly not excepting ever to happen, especially not over the phone. This sudden emotionally driven outburst shocked him to the core. It never had the time to response before she hung up. All he could do was stare at the handset, his eye wide feeling like he’d been struck by lightning not once but twice. Had he heard but he thought he had heard? Had Dawn just admitted she loved him? This had flipped his lid, he would need to think this over and try make sense of it. His brother wolf howled happily, the mate loved them but time was running out like sand in an hourglass slipping away grain by grain. “I love you” He whispered to no-one before hanging up the phone, the line dead and there was no reason to call back down, he would have to wait until she returned in the morrow. There would be no sleep tonight for the King. There was just too much now racing through his mind to allow peaceful slumber. However a cold shower was in order to chase away the now uncomfortable hardness between his thighs. The growing problem of where to grow from here was making the king uneasy but there was a possible future on the horizon but could they make it work? Such questions would race through his overly active mind tonight. Could Royalty and those who protected them truly be together? Until now he believed it impossible but these deep feeling boiling within his heart and soul caused doubt around this law. Maybe it was time for a change. Tomorrow could change everything in a single moment then again it might now. Vaan left his office, now more than ever confused at what tomorrow would bring.

Post by Lord Arawn Frost on Aug 5, 2011 10:30:22 GMT -6
What else could happen, this was starting to annoy the normally cold as ice lord frost. This was not turning out the best first impression he had seen in a long, long time but the show must go on. Arawn still had a whole night ahead, there were more important things to see to than this pup. Thankfully no blood had been split, Nate had just reached a nasty quack to head with a faux silver tray. All he would have at the end of the day, would be a ringing, aching headache nothing more.
In his household, there was no silver. Nothing to be used against any lycan within these four walls, they would be safe and looked after. His brother wolf checked over the young man, not once but twice. Arawn had to force the wolf back into it’s prison to prevent any kind of destruction. He did not want any kind of chaos within this kitchen. His wolf was restless, acting like an overprotective lover who wanted to lash out the agony to the servant. This was not want the man desired, no mate or lover who grace his bed ever again.
The soup had been split and spoilt but luckily it was only one of the three soups that had been prepared. His staff knew better than not to prepare a back up, just in case. In the past, much food had been lost due to his hyper daughter rushing through this very kitchen, wanting to see every part of her home and meet every person who worked for her father. “Do not worry Nate, the soup can be replaced” He reassured the young guard that he had ruined the evening meal.
This was the moment Arawn had been waiting for, a moment of peace and privacy. However he had not planned this disaster but it had happened anyway. “ Of course, we can’t have you cover in soup wandering after me” He sneered, not wanting to come off as nasty but sadly that was how it sounded to the lord’s own keen ears. His brother wolf growled aggressively in his ear, enraged what the sound of their own voice, it was wrong to treat the young man this way.
Sighing once the guard had left the kitchen, there was still many to do and not enough time to complete each task the way he liked them to be done.
