Now this was awkward, Vaan thought this would have ended differently with a doctor and her unconscious on a bed. It would have been easier; he would have been able to escape without ever facing the Spanish inquisition namely various curious courtiers. It was strange feeling having Dawn in his arms, even when they had danced they had not been this close. His brother wolf fought hard against his control which leased around its neck. It would not win now; if it broke free then hell would follow.
Captain Roseburn caused such unrest within his normally peaceful mind. Adrienne only caused lust to rise nothing more, no-one since Jane caused his brother wolf to rebel like this. Vaan hated to fight the other part of his being like this; they were one in the same. They would not exist without the other one but it was becoming hard to co-exist these days. Vaan could not shake the guilt of being so close to another woman when he already had a lover. Yes he could look and often did but never did he touch. Vaan Niall was faithful to Adrienne but their relationship was slowly but surely coming to an end.
“It’s my pleasure Captain” It was all he could think of saying; his mind had gone completely blank. How could this one woman send him spiralling like this? Words faded away, leaving him standing there like a lovesick teenager who had gotten the nerve to speak to his crush, the popular girl who was out of his league. This was not a human high school but the lycan royal court, his court and he was one with a power and control yet Dawn could undo his tightly wound threads, bring his brother wolf to the forefront and start a struggle for control.
Dawn was not in a fit state for duty, this Vaan was certain of. She had fainted not long ago, draped in his arms as he rushed around like a headless chicken trying to find a doctor or anyone who could help. “Dawn, this is an order go home, take the rest of the week off. I can’t have my captain wandering around in a sorry state” His voice softened, showing that he did care for the welfare of the guards that protected his family and the many other nobles, who lived and thrived here, under his watch.
The moment her feet touched the ground, Vaan noticed the difference. His wolf cried out, missing the feeling of her in his arms, trying to encourage the King into picking her up then and there, never to let her go. Vaan stood frozen to the spot, not wanting to move or speak afraid of what might occur if he did. The wolf lapped up the attention, enjoying the feeling of being the pillar of strength in her moment of weakness. It had not escaped his gaze, her hand upon his shoulder, the slight pressure as she tried to regain her balance. Most likely this would happen again; his captain was a workaholic and would not let anything get in her way, especially when trying to fulfil her daily duties.
“I know it will” He spoke, sighing at the thought of his strong, almost ice cold captain collapsing somewhere in the future. He gave her a week before this incident was repeated. Dawn would never change; this was something Vaan was certain of. His brother wolf whimpered in his ear, missing her touch wanting Vaan to react but he would not give in, not now. Everything was in his reach but this was the one time he had to deny both himself and his wolf. She needed rest and he, he needed a cold shower.
