She was right, the princess always had a piece of her lover because of the survival of their child. It was something beautiful yet chilling at the same time. Raphael always did like the story but it never touch him like the stories of the Kings Archer and Marcus who fought for what they believed in. Each were the polar opposites of each other, one wanted to keep the race where they should be on top as the superior species whilst the other wanted to be different, to be equal and share his court with various species.
"The story was something we hope does not happen to us" It was something that was now playing on this mind. However instead of an angry, violent father they had an schizophrenic, hair triggered hunter on their trail. How long could they hide from him and his four personalities? but he would have to push to the back of his mind with his darkest, depressing memories. "I always enjoyed the stories of Kings and how they changed everything" He said, rubbing his hand in circular motions trying to calm the pups within.
"How they fight for what they believe in. Marcus proved that we could live peacefully with any other race. He was passionate man even though I still think my Nana had some sort of affair with him" His tone of voice dropped, feeling embarrassed by this possibility. The company of his lover always calmed the anger within him which often threaten to bubble over and explode.
"I love you Eva" He expressed to her, his words were coated with the pure love and affection he held for this woman in his arms but set his cold, black heart free and brought him truly back to life. "As without you, I would still be that cold, anger driven lycan who hated love and feared that history would repeat itself. With you I'm a better man inside and out" He told her honestly. Every word he meant. Raphael did not know how to verbal thank her more than this but to show her by kissing her.
His lips collided with hers softly, putting everything into this one simple kiss.

She listened intently, stroking her hand along his arm. "Don't worry love. If Vaan is so against the slavery of lycans, surely we have a strong case to begin with." She murmured softly, stroking his chest tenderly as she looked out the window, watching as the sun fell lower and lower to the horizon, the sky growing with deep purples and blues and pinks. It was beautiful. It almost made her wish they could stay here forever.
She looked to his hand as it softly rubbed over her belly, trying to sooth the rowdy pups. It seemed to sooth them for they calmed their kicks and abuses on their mother. "Perhaps you should do that more often." She murmurs as she watches his hand sooth the pups. They stilled for the moment, Eva only feeling a slight flutter of hands or feet. Nothing uncomfortable. She looked up to Rafe, smiling warmly as she laid her hand over his to still it. "Perhaps if you tell them one of the less violent and.or gorey stories of the court before bedtime they'll actually let me sleep. "
She allowed him to take her lips. She knew he was not one who could easily express any of his feelings other than anger. He could easily express anger, but anything else was difficult for him to express in words. Actions though, he could express his emotions with his actions easily. And she could feel those emotions pour into her as she yielded to his lips, her hand rising to lay over his cheek, cupping it softly as she pressed her lips into his, giving a soft low moan.
She finally broke the kiss, meeting his gaze as she turned to him a little more. She stroked her hand over his cheek, pressing a tender kiss to his lips then his eyes. "And I love you, Rafe." She murmured softly, turning so that she straddled his lap, facing him. She leaned forward and laid her cheek on his shoulder, stroking a hand through his short, dark hair. "You've done your own share of fixing unhealed wounds though, cheri." She murmurs softly as she lifts her head to look up to him. "

The beta remembered the King's stance on the enslavement of lycans. The man could not stand the thought of his kin being the property of any other being. Lycans were strong, resilient being that stood proudly above all over races that was how the king saw their race.
Raphael agreed with this and this was what brought them here to this court. "I know my darling, our case is strong but I fear that the chancellor might try something" He told her, the chancellor was the only true obstacle in their way. The man was cruel and heartless, he wanted the power of the throne that came with the King.
He feared that the slimy fool was going to try something under handed and malicious to prevent the King from helping them. It was something only that man could be capable of doing. The soft smile upon his lips widened at the feeling of the pups moving beneath his hand slowly calm down. "I will do if it helps you sleep" He promised her, the thought of holding her like this every night. It was something simple yet held so much meaning for the beta. This was his lifeline which held the promise of a normal, bright future.
The idea of his pups knowing the gory and violent stories that had occurred in this very court was something he did not want to happened. His children should be only told the truth when they were grown up, strong and happy adults who no longer needed everything to be sugar coated. Nodding his head, agreeing with her on the notion of telling the pups story that had happy endings.
Without each other, they would have lead different life which would not be as fulfilling as this. Raphael was still be that angry lycan who watched others from the sidelines living the life he wanted but could not have it. It was always just out of his reach, his fingertips could barely brush against it but never would he able to grasp what he wanted. However with Eva he had the life he wanted, a mate and two pups on the way. It was the family he had longed for all these long and lonely years.
After HER death, he thought the chance had been wrongly stolen from him as he watched her father brutally take her life. He had never spoken with anyone about that day, maybe now he could. Eva deserved to know all of this past not just bit and pieces. Maybe the time was right now they were safely locked away in their suite in the walls of court.
"Eva, I want no need to tell the rest of my story. The tragic of my last lover" His words were coated in sorrow and regret but he had to tell her what had happened. It would be another heavy weight and burden lifted off his chest.

"I saw him as we were coming in earlier. He looked right at me and I swear I felt a chill run up my spine." She murmured as she laid a hand over his gently, stroking it tenderly as the pups finally settled down for the time being. "You comfort them." She murmurs softly, happy to just lay like this all day in the warm, suddsy water. She would have to take her hair down because when it was suspended in a messy bun like it was now, it had a tendency to give her headaches because of her thick mass of hair, but other than that, this would be a perfect way to spend her day. His hand splayed out over her bulging stomach. She looked a little more bulged than most women would be this far in, but that was because she had two pups instead of one. And twice the pressure and discomfort too.
Deep brown eyes looked over his face as he spoke of a need to tell her about his previous lover. She laid her fingers over his lips tenderly and shook her head as she stroked his hair tenderly. "You do not have to tell me, Rafe. Not unless you truly wish to. Lucian told me what happened to her." She murmured softly, stroking her knuckles along his cheek. She didn't want him to relive something like that for her sake. She could see why he loved her so much when she saw the picture in his room. She had been a beautiful girl. It saddened Eva that Rafe had to be denied that love. Like she'd been denied her love for Rourke.
She realized now that she never really loved Rourke. Not like that anyways. It was more of a sibling relationship they had more than lovers.

The Chancellor had already seen her, now that wasn't good. It had thrown a spanner in the works as he knew the man's wicked mind was already churning out ideas to ruin their chance of success. Images of what could happen passed through his mind, whatever happened it would be fast and cruel to the core.
One thing he knew for sure was that he was going prevent that slimy frog find anyone grab any advantage over them, find any weakness to exploit. Raphael would shield his lover from harm and whatever he would lash out. Mention of the pups calmed him, turned his thoughts brighter. The pups were something he were thankful for, they were a gift sent by the mother goddess.
"They calm me" He responded, the pups were a source of joy for him "Like you, the mere thought of you or them makes my heart lighter" Whenever he was feeling his rage was bubbling dangerously inside of him, the beta would think of his lover and children and it calm the beast within.
Now this was something he was not excepting to hear. The alpha Lucian Yale had told her about his former lover Aiyana. She had been his everything, his first love. "I want to Eva because the alpha didn't tell you everything" Some of the details he kept close to chest, some of the details even the alpha did not need to know.
"Her name was Aiyana, the daughter of a rival pack. Oh she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen until you came into my life" He began, taking a deep breath before he continued "She was that walked out of a dream, I was besotted from that moment on-wards" His voice was filled with such emotion as he recalled some of his best and worst memories.

She smiled warmly and brushed a kiss over his lips tenderly. "And you, Raphael Nahimana, are a calming comfort to me." She murmured as she laid her cheek on his shoulder, closing her eyes. He was. She felt so much more calm and comforted when he was present. He knew how to sooth her.
Her eyes fluttered back open as he explained. She knew Lucian hadn't told her everything. .She didn't want to know everything. At least, not from Lucian.
She studied him for a long time as he spoke of her, her fingers lightly stroking over the wolf pendant he always wore. She wasn't sure he ever took it off. She never saw him without it. She smiled warmly as he spoke about how his first lover made him fell. She had trouble trying to imagine a besotted Raphael, but she kind of could. It made her grin a little as her fingers stroked over the wolf head that laid against his chest. "How did you meet her, mon amour?" She asked softly. She wasn't asking for any particular reason. She was a little curious, but she also wanted to show him that she wanted to listen. She wanted to know. She didn't want him to relive it if he didn't want to, but if he really wanted to tell her, she would be willing to listen.

Taking another deep breath before he began his story. "Well..."He started to tell his story which was difficult but had to be told. "I met Aiyana on my first solo hunt" He recalled, he could still picture that day as if it had happened yesterday.
Raphael was still see her standing there, her hair as dark as a starless night draped over her. Her eyes, violet staring at him confused at the sight of a rival pack member. "I didn't know at the time but I had wandered into another pack's territory, my mouth hit the ground she was breathtaking" A sad smile crept across his lips "At first she tried to ignore me, avoid talking to me as i was the enemy"
That didn't stop him, he wanted to know her. She was a feral looking goddess who was there to tempt him and lead him down a path, he was not need meant to walk. Raphael did not care, he had thrown everything to the wind and dove in head first. "Eventually I made my move, asked her who she was. She still refused telling me that she would only tell me her name if I beat her in a fight"
A soft chuckle escaped his lips, he had been shocked by this sudden demand. Her voice sounded like a choir of angel singing in his ear but there was fire behind it all. "I didn't want to but I had to know her name" Raphael recounted.

Eva settled in to listen, laying her cheek on his shoulder as she situated herself so that she was sitting more to his side than actually sitting on him. She laid a hand over his heart as she nuzzles close to him, listening to him. She wished she could do something to take the pain away. She could hear it in his voice. She made no objections though. It was important for her to hear and for him to tell her the story.
It had been several months since she told him the complete story of her and Rourke, and it took a few times to get it all out. It wasn't an easy thing to speak of, losing someone you thought you'd loved in a long time. Especially after losing the pups of that person as well. Eva had been heartbroken when she lost those pups. She almost went feral because of that loss. As much as it hurt to lose the pups, she'd been a little thankful for it. Those pups wouldn't have had the life they deserved. They would have been taken from Eva the second they could and train them to be perfect, obedient slaves. They deserved better than that.
She gave a soft grunt as one of the pups lightly thumped what felt like a fist against her belly. She laid her hand over the spot for a moment, cupping the side of her bulging stomach lightly in an attempt to sooth the pups before she looked back up to Rafe, listening to him. She chuckled softly and brushed a kiss over his shoulder lightly. "Sounds like someone I would get along with just fine." She smiled faintly, her other hand stroking over the totem that hung around his neck. "Naturally you fought her." She smiled up at him warmly. "Did you win or lose, cheri?" She asked softly, stroking her hand over the wolf head of his totem, deep brown eyes gazing up at him.

"Oh you would have my love" He said, chuckling ever so slightly. It was strange how both of his lovers temperament were particular identical. Oh fate was truly a strange thing to lead him to something like Eva, she was a diamond in the rough.
Did he win? Not at first he hadn't. She had pinned him against the truck of a tree, a bark had been pushing into his soft back that had not been comfortable at all. There was no pain, it had just been uncomfortable for the young lycan. Using what strength he could muster, Raphael forced himself forward and her off of him. Taking a deep breath he glanced down wards, only to find her laying on the ground with a annoyance shining brightly in her eyes.
Silence soon settled over the two of them. It quickly became uncomfortable "I won so you will tell me your name" He demanded smugly. "The thing is she never gave me her name. Just walked off in a huff" Oh she had not been happy with losing to him. He had return the day after and the one after that but she was never there. His shoulders dropped when the realization set it. He had been the one to scare her off, the water lapped at his feet as he stood in the crystal clear water.
"It was a three months before I encountered her again. You can image she was not happy to see me again" How true was that statement, the young male was hunting once again. However this time his prey was trying to escape him, rushing through the trees. His senses completely focused upon the fear that poured from every pore of it's body.
Suddenly something did not feel right. Everything changed in a split second as another wolf burst from it's hiding place. Raphael was no longer alone. "She interrupted my hunt" He started knowing that he would have to explain what had happened. "At the time I did not that this was the beginning of something special"

Eva smiled softly, listening as he continued the story. She couldn't help but chuckle a couple of times. He scared her off. She doubted he scared her away. There was no doubt in Eva's mind that she had avoided the spot where they met for a while. She would have done the same thing if she had been in the girl's shoes. She remembered when she first saw Rafe. He had a very cold, harshness to him. That alone could easily scare anyone away. Add to it his tall, very built stature. He could be very frightening. "You can be a very frightening man." She grinned up at him playfully as she ran her fingers over his skin softly.
This was what gave her comfort. The touch of his bare skin to hers. The touch of his fingers against her soft skin. It meant he was there. She knew his touch meant that they were really there. She wasn't dreaming with phantom touches. He was actually there. His arms were actually wrapped around her and her lips were really brushing over his shoulder.
She smiled warmly, looking up to him as she laid her cheek on his shoulder lightly. "What happened then, mon loup?" She asked quietly, stroking a hand up and down his chest slowly. Her hands were slowing though. She was growing tired. She knew she'd be calling it a night early this night. Perhaps they could just order in some supper and dine in bed then lay down and go to sleep. Traveling had been long and hard for Eva. It was a long plane ride, and traveling was always hard on a woman in her condition. She closed her eyes sleepily, still listening as he told her the story.

Eva found his appearance frightening? This was the first time he had been told this. Never before had anyone mentioned anything of this nature to the beta before.
Yes how he acted was intimidating but it was necessary. In order to maintain control of the rest of the pack, who often went just to far and Raphael as the beta was the one who knocked them back into line. Her playful tone soothed his worried mind. "Sometimes it is a good thing, especially when I'm scaring the pack into line" He said, his words coated in humor but seriousness at the same time.
"We fought over the meat" He told her truthfully. Remember correctly they fought for a few hours which resulted in them both losing the animal which had taken the opportunity to get away from the two of wolves. This left both of them feeling angry at one another, blaming the other for the lose of prey.
"Coming back empty handed was humiliating but instead we called a truce to avoid this" He explained, placing gentle kisses to her swan like neck. He had been the one to suggest this, it was the lesser of two evils at the end of the day. Side by side they had raced through the trees trying to catch the scent of any animal who crossed their path.
One of them hide in the shadows of the trees, whilst the other chased the animal in the direction of the waiting lycan. This process was repeated for the both of them, neither would be humiliated today. "I learned her name that day" He told her with a smile, you could heard the happiness in his voice. It was wrapped tightly around each word like a fine silk ribbon on a Christmas or birthday present waiting to be opened.
Her naked form leaning against a tree with a dead deer in one hand, she graced her name to him. He felt elated to learn the name of the woman who had enchanted him so.
"Her name was Aiyana, she was my world even back then" Her name felt foreign on his lips now, Aiyana was no longer his world but she remained in his heart. Eva was his light and love, the rest of his heart was her and he was not going to lose her now that he had found her.

Her eyes fluttered open as he continued and she watched him as he continued to tell her how they met. She watched him thoughtfully as one hand ran through his hair slowly, stroking his head soothingly as he spoke, her other hand lightly laid over his heart. As if to protect his heart. She didn't really want him to tell her because she couldn't imagine how painful it had been for him to talk about Aiyana. There were still things she hadn't told him about her and Rourke. It just hurt so much to talk about him. To talk about the things they went through together. She could remember how much she hurt when she told Rafe about the pups she was supposed to have with Rourke.
She didn't want him reliving all that pain. If he needed to say his peace though, she would let him. As much as she didn't want him to, she let him continue, watching him and listening to him silently.
"I'm sorry, Rafe. That you had to lose her in such an awful way. " She murmured softly, nuzzling his shoulder lightly. She wished she could have been there to give him comfort when he lost his first love. To sooth his aching heart. She understood that ache, and she wished she could have been there to staunch the pain. She lifted her head, looking over Rafe's face thoughtfully, gazing into those beautiful green eyes. "It's not fair the way you lost her." She murmured weakly. It wasn't fair the way she lost Rourke either, but she had come to realize that she hadn't really loved him. Not like she did Rafe anyways. More like she would a brother since her true brothers were cruel and cold to her.
She just hated that their relationship had to end the way it had.

"You are right Eva but if I hadn't lost her, I would have never found and loved you" He told her, Raphael thought of what his life might have been like if his beloved had not been killed. The possibilities were endless. His mind began to list of what could have been, there might have been a pup or two to start with.
The beta had always wanted a family. Now he was going to achieve that with Eva, even if they were not his by blood. The beta would still care, love and help raise them into fine lycans. Her story had been told, he would not push her into tell him about Rourke.
Time was all they had now. The water had grown cold as he told his story to his lover. His hand still rested upon her swollen bump, slowly rubbing in circles soothing the unborn pups that lay beneath her skin. "I think it's time for us to get out of this bath" He informed her, not wanting either of them to become prunes from spending too much time in the water.
He would not be able to climb out of the bath until she removed her first. He would be struck in this bath and it's cold water not that he minded watching her rise as the water dripped down and caressed her form and curves. Now that was truly a sight to behold and he would willingly wait a lifetime to see just a vision of beauty that was his beloved mate to be.

He had a very good point there. They never would have met if she hadn't died. Eva felt kind of bad knowing that considering how happy she was with Rafe. Another woman had to die in order for Eva to be with Raphael. But then again, if he and Raphael were meant to be together as they were, then something would have happened in order for them to meet and have the family they would be having. She looked to her belly as his hand brushed over her stomach. She closed her eyes and laid her head back against his shoulder as his hand soothed the restless pups as well as their tired, yet restless mother. She knew it was sort of late in the day for a nap, but she was so tired. Maybe if she just laid down for thirty minutes or so she could get a little energy burst. She laid a hand over his as it ran over the bulging stomach that was Eva's. She smiled when she felt a light flutter against Rafe's hand. He always seemed sooth her and the pups, which is why she liked to keep close to him as of lately. Especially since she was a big ball of nerves when he wasn't around lately.
Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled up at him and nodded, very slowly sitting up. It took a little bit of finesse to stand, but with the support of Rafe's shoulder she managed to get up to her feet slowly. She very carefully stepped out of the tub and pulled out a towel, drying herself off as she turned to Rafe, smiling as she wrapped the warm towel around her body. Unfortunately, it didn't fit over her swollen belly very well, so it protruded from between the towel.
"Do we have any plans for the night, mon amour?" She asked softly as she let her wild locks down from the hair clip and brushed it out gently. If not she thought they could just stay in and order some dinner up. She was having a serious hankering for some sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. Oh, and egg rolls and crab rangoo. Surely the kitchen could whip some of that up?

She was beautiful, perfection in his eyes. The way the water just rolled off her curves so easily. She looked a goddess emerging from the water, bare as the day she was born. Raphael was speechless just watching her climb out of the tub. His brother wolf howled happily at the wonderful sight before his eyes, happy that she was theirs and the fact that no-one else could see her like this.
If they tried, they would not live to see the sunrise of the next morn. Eva was his mate to be and no-one could ever change that. The beta would fight anyone who tried to take her or the pups from him. Fight until the last breath had left his body. Eva was his world and soon that world would expand. He could not wait.
Shaking his head at her question. Raphael had no intention of leaving the suite this evening, the trip from Grey Haven had taken it out of him. The bath had reminded him exactly how tired he was. "No love but we should order up some dinner though" He suggested, hoping that once they had some clothes on, one of them could summon a servant to the room. "I don't want to leave this suite until tomorrow morning" He responded gently tonight would bring sleep and nothing more. Passion was forever burning beneath the surface when Eva was near but passion had to be put on the back burner for now at least.
