Lycans have the ability to transform into wolves and bipedal, humanoid wolf-like creatures.
- They can live anywhere between 500 to 2000 years.
-In werewolf form, males tend to stand anwhere from 9ft to 13ft, but on average between 10ft and 11ft.
-In werewolf form, females tend to stand anywhere from 9ft to 11ft tall on average. Sometimes there may be one that stands around 12ft, but not very often.
-Obviously the change is a very painful process, even for the most experienced Lycans. The older they are the quicker they can change though.
3 Types of Lycans:
Bitten: [
-These lycans were either bitten or injured by a lycan of some sort. When a human or another creature is bitten by a lycan, they themselves turn into a lycan.
- Their first bipedal change is during the first full moon after they have been bitten.
- They have no control over their changes and must learn how to control the changes. It takes years of training and learning to be able to fully control changes.
-They age at the same rate as adult lycans.
- Bitten lycans tend to be more of a loner, but some do find places within packs.
Born:
-These lycans were born a lycan. Either one or both of their parents are lycans.
- These lycans have their first change during the first full moon of their eighteenth year.
-It takes years to learn to control their change, but because their parents are lycans, usually they are taught how to control their changes so they are better prepared for their first change.
-born lycans can start changing into their wolf forms when they are about five or so. This acts as a way to learn how to control their changes.
- They grow and mature at a normal, human rate until they turn 18 (when they are considered true adults) then, they begin to age much more slowly.
- Born lycans are much more pack oriented, but there are the occasional "lone wolves" that leave the packs to be on their own.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Improved Strength
All Lycans upon their first change are gifted with increased and enhanced physical strength. The average lycanthrope can lift a car over their heads or punch right through a wall clear to the other side.
Improved Resilience
Lycans are amazingly resilient, compared to humans. Beatings, gunshot wounds, and blades don't seem to faze them much. Very simply, a lycan can take far more punishment than a human could hope to, and remain vertical and dangerous.
Improved Speed
Lycans are faster than both humans and vampires. They are just simply quicker and better. No mind tricks, natural ability. With this speed comes a natural animalistic grace to their movements. Quick, agile, liquidly graceful. They are so fast that they can appear to be a blur.
Improved Senses
Lycans can hear and smell with crystal clarity at such a heightened state that even the newest werewolf is able to smell fear, lust, and even the small subconscious olfactory scents associated with lying. They may not be able to recognize what it is they are scenting, but its there. Lycans can even sense and smell when another of their kind is near. For group minded animals, they are able to get a scent of pack on the newcomer if they're part of the local population and if the shifter themselves is part of that group. Other than the familiar smell of the pack for example, shifters can scent another lycan, but generally they aren’t able to tell the species.
Regeneration
Lycans heal themselves at a very advanced rate in most situations. This enhanced healing comes into play except when it comes to wounds inflicted by silver and lycan or vampire teeth and claws.
Reproduction
As awkward a subject as this is, it must be clarified. On this site, lycan reproduction is exactly the same as human reproduction plus or minus just a few tiny details.
When a female is ovulating, she does have a specific scent that the men can pick up on, as if they were in heat.
Lycans can have "litters" (more than one pup), but it is genetic, like twins and other multiples in humans. So if you have a character that is a twin or mated to a twin, it is likely they will have twins when when they're pregnant.
Women can shift during their pregnancies, but the further into their pregnancy the higher the risk they run of having a miscarriage when they do change. Some women can change intermittently throughout their pregnancy and be perfectly fine while others could lose their babies the first time they change during the pregnancy.
Communication
As we all know, Lycan's have three foms: their human form, their Werewolf form, and their wolf form. They have to communicate in these forms somehow, right? Right.
In human and werewolf form they communicate just as humans do. They talk. Werewolf form uses a lot of body language too, but they can still talk in werewolf form. They can not hear each others thoughts. These two forms have no form of telepathic abilities at all.
In wolf form however, that is how they communicate. They can not read each others thoughts though. Much like talking they can project certain things to the wolves they wish to speak with. If they wish to project something to only one wolf while in a group they can do that as well, but they can not read each others thoughts.
Hybrids
Hybrids are mixed in species. On here, a hybrid will most often refer to someone who is half vampire half lycan. On this site, hybrids are not based off of any specific work of art or mythological creature. Their guidelines are determined by the admin team.
-They have no wolf form. Only a "werewolf" form, which is usually a werewolf with vampirstic qualities and their human form.
-Whatever parent they most strongly take after have the strengths that the hybrid inherits. The hybrid will inherit the weaknesses of the parent he/she favors the least.
- The mother of the hybrid also affects the outcome of it's abilities and weaknesses. For example, if the mother is a vampire, the child will have more vampire-like qualities. If the mother is a lycan the child will have more lycan-like qualities.
- They can live anywhere between 500 to 2000 years.
